Buzurk1 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 If any one can help ? I recently brought 2001 Banshee with gold series fmf and the guy said its bored and ported to max.Starts ok idles ok jetting good plugs light brown but runs hot quick and i lose powerband at wot (no go) back of on the throttle and it peaks a bit but still missing (occasional bark from back fire).tors system is disconnected but carby tops retained for better seal on carbies aftermarket throttle fitted.when stopped after hr of riding radiator has great bubbling noise (HOT HOT) any ideas would be appreciated Quote
dragbanshee02 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I would have to say that if it is bored to the max and you got it that hot i would have the cylinders walls checked they maybe warped and the wrings may have lost there temper do a compression test (worst case scenario it needs to be sleeved and get new rings) Other than that If it hasn't hurt the top of the piston yet it sounds like you are running very very lean what size mains are in the carbs? or you mayhave an air leak? just some suggestions also check the reeds make sure you didn't lose one (broken off) Quote
Buzurk1 Posted April 11, 2004 Author Report Posted April 11, 2004 Thanks for reply, will check all of above, maybe he had a problem already and i get to sought it out. i cant wait!!!!! will keep posted on out come.Where' you calling from Quote
dragbanshee02 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Check the timing too It maybe to far advanced. I ran into this problem running a +7 degree key and a adjustable stator plate. I am form albany New York where are you from? Quote
Buzurk1 Posted April 13, 2004 Author Report Posted April 13, 2004 I pulled everything apart, because i cant stand things that dont run right and i need to know the bike anyway.Cylinders ok,reeds ok i backed the idle of and choked it and it stalled at first notch so i dont think its lean.this guy had the bike right on the edge i think .is there away of checking the timing advance simplisticly . im in Darwin australia and right now its 31 degrees and the time is 11pm Tuesday night Quote
nickxc Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 I think the only way to check your timing is to pull your flywheel and see what kinda key is in it and if the stator plate is modded. its rather easy to do though. Quote
