shortbus Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Can yamabond be used on base and headgaskets? Can it withstand the heat and pressure? Quote
shortbus Posted April 10, 2004 Author Report Posted April 10, 2004 No I mean to help seal the gaskets. Spreading a light coat of it on both sides of the gaskets to help them stick. Quote
99LRDblaster Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 if you are using a paper grade gasket you use yamabond on both sides of it. other gaskets a silicone based and self seal. the head gasket never needs anything applied but one thing that does help on sealing it is the permatex copper spray a gasket it. it fills any minor inpurities in the surface to prevent air leaks and gasket wear. PlaynSand Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 The new Yamaha OEM gaskets are graphite coated and require no sealer, If using hard paper gaskets a little sealer would help. The head gasket, you may go with copper coat like LRD said or aluminum spray paint works good also . Quote
