jeepman380 Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Has anyone ever done this? I don't see why you couldn't. I have a single carb set up on my shee and a 35mm Keihin PWK and right now I have the biggest jet in it that I can find...a 200. I was just wondering why couldn't you just take a tiny drill bit to it and bore it out just a bit to increase the jet size. I don't see why It wouldn't work. Does anyone else agree? Well besides not nowing how big of a jet you have in, if it runs good after you bore the jet out why not do it. Quote
2003bansheeman350 Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 i tried it and its a pain in the ass. i cant get drill bits that go up by .022 of a freain mm. you coud do it if you had the right size bits and it would be damn easy. Quote
jeepman380 Posted April 9, 2004 Author Report Posted April 9, 2004 Yeah I thought it was a pretty good idea and easy to do plus. I don't want to have to buy a bigger carb if boring out my jets wil work. Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Kiehin goes up to a 230 on that carb. In the winter it will suck cause you cant get no bigger. You can always install a power jet or go to a 36mm Quote
NYUK Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 thats all i run is drilled jets.that how we do it with alky,it works fine, all you need to do is have an indexed drill bit set and a micrometer and scriber. Quote
99LRDblaster Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 cant drill the stock mikuni. it will irritate the indentations in the main jets and the needle cant seal. causes a major pain in the ass. they are only like 3 bucks a piece anyways. Quote
Ducman Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I suppose it could be done easily enough if you had a nice drill press with a delicate vise on the press to hold the mains. If you want a set of mains that are in steps and know what the size of each is, and accurately, then your going to have to buy a really nice indexed drill set which will cost a lot more than a few mains. Although, if you cant buy any mains in the size that you need, I'd probably be worth it. Might be best, and even save money, to take a few mains to a machine shop and have them make a set. Quote
