Do the 1987-90 calipers mount the same to the spindle as the newer ones? I was thinkin about gettin new style calipers for my 87. Wondering if i needed to get new spindles to do that.

The 87-90 calipers are completely different than the newer ones and will NOT bolt up to the older spindles.

The older calipers are actually better than the newer ones since they are much larger and have better stopping power than the newer ones. I have a chance to swap mine to the newer spindles and calipers... Once I saw the difference I kept my old calipers.

So yes you WILL need new style spindles if you want to convert to the new calipers

I would have to take some pics tomorrow... I think I still have the calipers off the 99 and mine is an 88'

Just oftopic a bit , but has anyone tried or know if the YFZ450 front callipers can or will fit onto a banshee front spindle ? Dual piston callipers would have to be better than the stock single jobies.. :)

Different...that ain't no shit. When I saw them at Dumont, I thought they were Honda or aftermarket....Things are bigger than the "newer" style.

I have a '88 and want to upgrade the lines on the front to steel braided. Where do you buy the lines for the old style calipers?

Thanks.

Gobbler:

I'll check w/ the guys over at K&K this week about that... or at least get a good look at them to see what would be involved.

bdbanshee:

I get everything I need from K&K... and Im pretty sure they had the lines in stock when I needed them... You just have to specify that they are for the older banshee's. Im sure Stan could make them for ya too if he knew what ends to put on the lines.....

370 I see that you upgraded from the J arms to A arms, whos are they and which set of shocks did you go with??? Thanks :D

When I first upgraded to a-arms, I ran ATV Racings adjustable uppers w/ stock lowers. ( I still have them and they are for sale ) Just recently I upgraded to the LSR race +2+1 a-arms. I currently run the TCS dual rates w/ res, but I want to upgrade to a set of Custom Axis.

Either way it was an excellent upgrade! I'd never go back.
