SICK BOY Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Depending on how good of a rider you are,you should be able to take that Raptor now. Quote
German Shepherd Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 Whats the raptor and yfz stock? When we race we only race up to aprox 50 mph since it is kinda a drag race. I heard that you should start in 2nd gear .Should I put it in 2nd, rev it all the way up and let the clutch fly? Can I hold it open and just shift it or should I lower te RPM's? Thanks Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 banshee's are made for screamin, let her do it! raptors are slow, 450's like boone said are no joke, there the new sports quad to look out for, get some mods and nothing should be a real problem, try diffrent clutch and gas combo's for the start to get what you bike will do best with Quote
909 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 10% NitroMethane should just about do it. Quote

Thanks all things left stock, a 450 will take the cake. A shee and a raptor are about dead even stock for stock. Pipes change everything. Traction limitations depict what you can do on the start. That's why we suggest shortening thew swingarm in the dirt. Works wonders. on the shifting, hold that thing Wide open, and shift as fast as you can. Not go through the gears all at once, but when you do make a gear change, do it quick. That's where a modded shift star will help you a bit, it will let you get to the next gear smoother.... Ridden properly, you shouldn't have a problem.,... Quote
sandman121383 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 if u holeshot in 2nd ur gonna have 2 use the clutch a little to keep it screamin. u might wanna try startin in 1st . i'd hold it wide and every time i stabbed the clutch i'd still keep the throttle cracked wide open. show him what ur bikes made of. like a few others said u might not need any mods depending on who get the jump, weight and last but not least, skill. good luck n have fun Quote
boonman Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Do NOT launch in 1st. Wind it up, and dump the clutch. Practice some starts. If you are hooking up, you will notice it because the front end will be in the air some. 1st gear winds uup wayyy too quick. You will be looking for second when you're 10 feet out. The other guy will be pulling you already and then you take a chance on hitting neutral. No Way. not gonna happen if you start in second. Even if you have to feather the clutch a little, it's still ALOT better than lighting off in first... Quote
