From Sst's To 2:1 Pipe

ok So I can get a really good deal on a 2:1 pipe but I am not sure if its the step I want to take. I ride woods mostly and I am tired of constantly having to rev it to the moon to get the power down.

 

 

any suggestions on what I should do? I have sst's now

they are awsome on the bottom end i ride woods too and they are awsome one the low to mid and people say the top end anit good at all wiell it better then stock

The 2:1 will help you out a lot with that. If you do ride mostly woods, then you will be a lot more competitive with that pipe due to the easier power to use.

 

One thing, you will lose quite a bit of top with that change, so if your not prepared to lose that much, you could go to some Fatties and still have some top end to play with, not sure how the top is on the Gnarlies, but I've heard they are good woods pipes as well.

 

Sounds good, sell the SSTs, I bet you can get some dough for them.

He would be more familiar with the 2:1 pipe than me. If you don't lose as much top as I thought, sounds like it would work out great.

i have try toomey, fmf,and bills,and dg ,and i only dou wood riding and the best pipe so far is the dynoport,2into1 pipe and nice sound too !! go with it you will be happy!!

I say save your money and get a cool head with 20cc domes. That will help the bottom end some, give you a little more torque, probably not as much as a 2 into 1 though.

 

Either that or you could trade me your SST's (if their in good shape) for my Gnarlies + I'll toss on a some $ since the SST's cost a bit more. The Gnarlies have great bottom end, probably exactly what you are looking for. I am looking for a bit more top end myself. The Gnarlies are in perfect condition, W/ turbine core II silencers. I'll even mirror polish the silencers if you want, tres tres bling bling.

Your sst's should have some great bottom end...They are sensitive to jetting. If you don't get the jetting dialed in then the low end does suffer....I've ridden two shees w/ sst's and both had a totally different power curve until my friend dialed his in...Made a huge difference...

From my limited experience here is what I think. The 2-1 pipe is awesome for anyone that wants some low end grunt. Woods, MX and XC is the place for this pipe. If you dune hill climb or just mess around I would not recommend this pipe.

 

I went from stock to my dyno port and the difference was huge, once I got the jettting dialed in.

 

I can lug my shee down to where I can feel each piston fire and then ease into the throttle and she will spin up every time! No clutching unless you want the tires to spin.

 

As for the top end. It is the same as stock sorta. It feels like it pulls a little more up top but nothing that noticable.

 

The mid hit is huge but extremely smooth. The light switch is gone. So you can get the power to the ground without ripping the tires loose everytime you hit the gas.

 

Basicly I have a 4 stroke that likes to burn some oil but still huals!

 

Now this pipe is hard to jet but once you nail it, it rips.

 

I have done some limited play draggin with some friends and a couple of other banhsees. I have beat banshees with top end pipes in short drags 300-400ft. But once they get those pipes wound out I don't stand a chance. I keep up with modded 400ex, Raptors Z400's. They just seem to put the power to the ground alot better.

 

So to sum this up. If you want to use your shee for some riding that you normally would want a 4 storke for but can't afford or don't want to switch, get this pipe.

If you want to get a lot of answers on this question you may want to start a new thread, also peeps might get confused because the thread is a year old. As for your question, no Toomys are more of a top end pipe although some people like them for all around riding, but there are other pipes with good bottom end that make much better pipe for woods and trail riding like PTR mids (Paul Turner Racing) or FMF Gnarlies.

Do not know about the 2 into one pipe. I really do not like how they look.

I was the proud owner of the FMF Ganrly pipes and this pipes have excellent bottom to mid end power, top end is almost the same as stock. Wheelies were no problem even in third, with a +3 timing plate even better. You can not go wrong with the Gnarlies. SST's are great but Gnarlies are better for bottom end power.

 

FMF puts their pipes like this:

 

Gnarly -> bottom to mid power

Fattie -> better all around pipe

SST -> a little stronger than the fatties, wider power band with little horse power gains over fatties

I have a dynoport 2:1 pipe along with the trinity 2:1 intake w/ 35 mm carb. It is also ported and let me tell ya the thing hauls ass even on top end. You may not have so much top end but with that added low end power you can just gear it up higher.
