bansheeigo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Are NGK B8EV's a good plug for my shee? I have a cool head 21cc(pump gas 91 octain),toomey t-5's,stock carbs with 310- mains 30-pilots,wiseco pistons .030,proflo k&n filter. I ride in the desert and at glamis, where i live at its 207 feet above sealevel. Should i use another kind of NGK plug,if so can you tell me what kind? Thanks for your help. Quote

The B8EV would probably be alright. The difference in the standard B8ES, which is what Yamaha recommends for the machine, and the B8EV, is the the electrode is a gold mixed metal. It has gold and some other metal for hardening and the tip is a wire type tip which should give a little stronger spark. I'm not sure about the gold, though. If your looking for a simple plug with better spark go with B8EVX (platinum electrode) or the BR8EIX (iridium electrode). The iridium is really strong and may require a slight jetting change. The iridium would be the ultimate but the platinum would probably be the easiest for you. Remember, the BR8ES/B8ES is the standard plug for the banshee and the cheapest. Quote
GEEZR Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Dude, I've got the very same set up you got.My B8EV's are still doin great. I have about 50 hours riding time over the past 3 years and no problems. What's your compression? Mines 160 in both cylinders, I use Trick 101 race gas,32:1 I ride Glamis and DuMont only. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 some guy on planet sand said b8egv were good too. What is up with those ones? Quote
sredish Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 some guy on planet sand said b8egv were good too. What is up with those ones? they're more or less the same plug, the insulator is a "racing style" on the egv, but I can't tell a difference. Quote

Now it runs really great and dialed in perfectly." that was a quote from u on another post about eix plugs... Quote

I think D34 is just saying that your jetting change was a little more than just slight, not that your ass if full of monkies. Quote
sredish Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 The iridium is really strong and may require a slight jetting change. The reason I said "slight" is becuase I've heard of big jetting changes all the way to no jetting change. So I said you may have a slight jetting change, based on the average of what I've heard. D34 expressed his doubt in my jetting in my previous post about these plugs, that's why i was sarcastic, and I probably shouldn't have. i ran b9es b4 and have been runnin br9eix 4 about a month n my race bike with no jettin change just changin 2 a different type of plug will not change ur jettin much, 1 size maybe.... I don't know his setup or why he didn't have a jetting change, and I'm not concerned why, but I did have a lean condition after changing the plug; I did not have a lean condition before, and I know of a few other people that have had a similar experience. I run a single carb, and that's possibly why I needed a much larger jet, due to one carb feeding two cylinders. Scott Quote
