sweetshee4312 Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 i know this aint about a shee, but my freind wants me to put new piston and rings in his kx 250, im thinking i can make a buck here, but how hard is it to do, and just how do u do it, do i need special tools, ect, or should i have the stealer ship just to it for 45 $ an hr labor Quote
421stroker Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Its not any different than doing a shee engine. most 2 stroke engines are the same. Quote
FULL_METAL_JACKT Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 if you have done 1, you can do them all. rings and pistons are easy Quote
ruff_rida69 Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 when I had my yz250 I rebuilt the top-end and it was easyer then my banshee, and it's just the same as rebuilding a banshee top-end but with a power valve and one less piston, and you don't need any special tools just a 12mm wrench and socket and a ?torq?"can't spell" wrench for the cylinder and head and a pair of needle nose or a flat head for the circlip, just make sure you tightin' the power valve linkage bold good that way it won't slip " I forgot to and my power valve didn't work" but its a real easy job, it shouldn't take you more then 45mins. if you got all the parts.
