Its ALL I use and have never had a problem with it You have to have a bachlors degree in computer science to use it, thats whats wrong with it. Everytime someone tries to help me use mirc they say "oh its easy" and then they give me a list of 500 things I need to do to set it up. And I still cant get it to log onto anything. mirc is a big pain in the ass. its just like the guys who cant figure out how to post pictures here, to some guys its easy , but the poor guys who cant post the pictures are completely lost when you start telling em they need a picture host, and upload and copy\paste URLs and crap like that. Let me try to remember the instructions for mirc. it logs you onto a server as soon as it starts up, but its not the server you need, so change the server to "whatever". to change servers you gotta do .... blah blah blah... now log onto the new server and open the channel box and type \bansheehq and usually it doesnt find that channel so you gotta f*ck around with the server thing again, then try the channels thing again. then it tells you that you need a password cause your not the administrator or there's no such channel. So you try the little number sign(#) then the backslash (\) then the name of the room and that never works. then mirc has six thousand options and settings that I have no idea what they do. WHAT THE HELL DOES "FINGER" MEAN? it drives me nuts....... that damn mirc. Does someone wanna make a billion dollars. Heres an idea..... make a chat room program, where you click the word "enter" and your in the damn chatroom. I dont have time or patience for fingering, server changing, channel surfing and all the bullshit I get whenever I try MIRC. I have chatted with MIRC in the past, I did figure it all out, but 75% of the time I couldnt get into the room cause it either didnt exist or I didnt have the admistrator password or the room was locked, or 20 other problems. Get me a one or two click chat room !!!!! im too old for this shit, im fired up now.... where's my hammer.... i need to go break something btw im downloading those java files right now. i'll betcha they dont work for me..... Meat Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 btw im downloading those java files right now. i'll betcha they dont work for me..... yea... it didnt work. i downloaded and installed the files. it wanted me to reboot so I did. rebooted and went to my internet options and bam there it was, the options for java. the virtual machine was installed and was enabled. The "java console" option is there now too, and it wasnt selected. So I put a check in the box to enable the java console. Enabling the java console required another re-boot.... so I rebooted a second time. Things are looking good so far, so I come back to this thread to get the link for the chatroom, click it and nothing.... i waited and waited and no chat window, nothing but a few icons that didnt do a damn thing when I clicked on em. Again... why is so hard to chat to on the internet, we put a man on the moon but we cant make a simple "click to enter" chatroom that doesnt require 30 steps and 2 hours of time. Quote

You can rip a shee down to a bare frame,, split cases,,, but you cant get a simple chat program to work? I agree. the newer versions of mIRC are loaded full of shit.... thus why I run an older version myself. Are you guys running any firewalls? Cable/DSL modems? Behind a router? The only times I have a problem joining chat via mIRC is when RZ isnt in chat. When there is no moderator present you will NOT be able to join through an IRC client. Meat: You stated you have Win XP.... do you have Service pack 1 installed? Have you done all the windoz updates? By the way... Once an IRC client is set up... there is no need to change anything.. click on it and your in... done. Its that easy Do I need to call each of you guys to set your pc's up right??? Quote

"java logging" is not enabled...... and I have "jit" enabled. Jit compiler for virtual machine enabled" is the only thing I have a checkmark next too. So I just rebooted cause i turned off the java console ...... clicked on the chatroom link..... and...... nothing. firewall is still down..... see it just plain sucks ass. Im gonna give up tonight. I used to have problems like that though. I can't remember what I downloaded. Something to do with Java, and another windows component. I did it a while ago. Quote
