efward Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 After much deliberation, I have decided to go with the v-8 suggestion. Here are some shots without the rear plastic. It looks like the right rear sub-frame bent just forward of the seat mount. The powder coat is cracked there and the brace itself is slightly twisted. Not as bad as the cooler rack makes it look though. Quote
Yamahammer Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 i can straighten it if you want to bring it up it only takes an hour maybe i know you are in sandiego but if you want to drive i will hook it up for you..i am buy knotts berry farm the last one i straightened was bent down about 4 inchec including the silencer i did not get photos of it though.. let me know Quote
2001SSTBanshee Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I dont see how you guys can bend frames back. We tried and did not suceed. The frame we had bent similar to that. When it bent it kinda pinched and lost its nice tube shape. As soon as we tried to bend it back it cracked right on the pinched looking stress mark. Then again, we didnt really know what we were doing! New frame. Quote
ruff_rida69 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I did about the same thing on my yz250, i was gonnin about 45mph on a wheely with 2 people on it on pavement and stud it up "HURT LIKE HELL!", but it bent my subframe and i bent it back and it broke, so i took in to a buddy of mine and he put a solid steel bar inside and rewelded it back together, but i think it will always be twisted a little mine was. Yamahammer Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 It is really hard to get it back to 100% even if that is possible but to take the bend out to make it right as you can go slow and dont force it back. you have to work backwards from the bend. Quote
efward Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 Thanks to everyone for their input. Yamahammer, I may just take you up on that offer. Very generous, thank you. You're about 2 -2.5 hours from me I think. I'll PM you about it. Quote

efward Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 Being able to carry beer is worth the risk! Sure it's big, obnoxious and doesn't fit right, but I don't go thirsty in the dunes. I plan to throw the one in the pictures in my next campfire. Quote
