murder_banshee Posted February 2, 2025 Report Posted February 2, 2025 A couple months ago I found a set of CPI pipes for a very good price in my area and I bought them for a new build once I have the dough. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for removing chrome from 2 stroke exhaust without screwing up the pipes?? If I can do it at home or something I’d prefer that to taking them to a chrome shop and having them remove the plating. The chrome on these is peeling pretty bad and I want to convert them to raw steel if possible. Any input is appreciated guys, let me know what you think. Thanks Quote
murder_banshee Posted February 2, 2025 Author Report Posted February 2, 2025 Not sure why this posted twice, sorry about that guys. It said my browser connection failed and when I refreshed, it had my topic unposted. Admin please feel free to delete the duplicate thread if nobody responds in it. Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted February 2, 2025 Report Posted February 2, 2025 Hydrochloric acid will remove chrome. But it can also attack the base metal, has to be rinsed off well once the chrome has been removed. But, you have to be very cautious using it. Use all the PPE! I'd imagine if it's already peeling it can be media blasted as well Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 2, 2025 Report Posted February 2, 2025 I wouldn't even risk it. I'd take them to a chrome shop. Expansion chamber metal is so thin that it doesn't take much to fuck them up. Quote

SKEETER Posted February 3, 2025 Report Posted February 3, 2025 I can't recall who we used to use in Portland. Call cascade and ask them Quote
