TheNewGuy Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 pretty good idea, i did that with the braided high temp hose to keep it from burning my fullbores anymore it was kinda shatty i just put my fullbores on and my t5 stinger tubes shifted and melted a big ol dent into my back left side...cant see it when im sitting on the bike but still i might need to try that since i switch to a 2 into 1 from my k&n's mike Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Hmmm I've never had any problems with melting my outerwear with my 2:1...I just loosened the clamp holding the filter, rotated the filter to where there is an equal distance between the pipes & the filter. I'm still running the same outerwear that came with the filter. Quote

DIABLO BANSHEE Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 i run the t5's and i melted my 1st outerwear,yes i rotated the filter to the center,but i just use a rubber band around the center of the filter to hold the outerwear back from the pipes.never had a problem sence. Quote

Holyman Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I ran the 2:1 filter with my T5's a melted it even though I had the filter rotated to be in the center. Then I went with Trinity pipes and they are all up on the filter. So great tip. If I don't switch to a 2:1 intake, I'm gonna do what you did. Quote

Anyone ever tried that flame retardant spray,....like that crap you spray on X-mas trees & fabrics to keep them from burning up? Think it would work?? Wonder if it'd clog the outerwear?...if it worked that'd be a god send for those running clamp-ons & some with the 2:1. Oh yeah,...and do the waterproof outerwears hold up to heat better? Quote
