I know it's a Banshee forum and most people here praise the banshees but whatever...

I currently have a 1997 Warrior that I want to change soon... I like the Banshee a lot for the fact it's a 2 stroke and it have a lot of power but I don't ride dunes and I don't drag neither. I'm mostly riding woods trails, open fields and I do some jumps too! Is a banshee will be a good choice or a 4stroke will be better for my type of riding (ex. 400ex, Z400)?

Also I know that banshee's stock suspension is not very good but what about the frame? is that quad well balanced for jumping? I was wondering that because I rarely see banshee jumping in movies like Huevos...

So what would you do if you were me?

Thanks in advance for the comments! ;)

I used to ride trails alot on my old shee and had no problems. I also made quite a few jumps with stock suspension before modding it. A Banshee will be your best choice.

i went from a warrior to a banshee and loved it. if you like riding full throttle all the time and like pumping mods into a bike then go for a banshee. if you want a fast bike that can go slow too and is pretty nice stock go for the yfz

Dont get me wrong I love my shee but I am a duner. Its pretty tough to get used to if you dont have a bunch of mods to make the power more predictible. Not that you cant make a banshee a kick ass bike in the woods but its going to cost you some $$$ to get it one how you want it. If your a trail rider or mx I would really recommend the the yfz 450. I really cant say enough about the bike. I rode one in the dunes and on the trails. It is a good all around bike. Does really well in the dunes (not going to beat a banshee though) and on the trails. Best of all it has enough suspension and motor to make you happy right off the showroom floor. I am planning on buying one of these soon for general trail riding and such. More expensive that a 400ex but worth every penny IMHO.

I first started riding on a 91 warrior and it was a great bike to use in the trails. Then, the almighty shee made its way into my world and there is no way I would go back. My friend still has the warrior, and we go riding together every time we do ride. There is NOTHING that he does that I can't do on the banshee. Granted, you have to ride the banshee differently than the warrior, but it is capable of doing the same and then some, as the warrior could. We ride nothing BUT trails here, no sand or fun stuff to play in other than the muddy trail. As far as you being concerned with jumping, I would think that the banshee would be easier to jump due to the fact that it is lighter than the warrior. IMO, 4 strokes aren't "better" for trails, they are just easier to ride(i.e. you can creep through things on a 4 stroke as for a 2 stroke you have to goose it to get through...which I think is more fun anyhow) All you have to do if you have a 2 stroke to make up for not having the strong low end torque of a 4 stroke is to just have good speed and momentum. That coupled with a good rider can overcome any obstacle that a 4 stroke could do...Just my two cents :)

Invest in a shorter swing arm, different tires, mill your head or replace it with a noss head, and invest in some suspension. After that you'll probably want to have an mx port done to it, invest in some after market reed cages or have yours redone, advance the timing, and lighten up your flywheel. The list goes on and on. I'm not a huge trail rider so I am sure others will let you know which ones to due first. That would make it kick ass not that you need to all that stuff to have fun in the woods...

stroker motors too. I am in the process of building my stroker and it should run trails like any four stroke.... well its supposed to have the load end of a thumper, or so im told

I don't think it would cost that much at all. The one thing you should change is your gearing. This may sound crazy but I went to a 15/41 gearing (which makes each gear longer) and when I went out to the trails I absolutely LOVED IT! I could stay in first longer which in turn kept me right in the middle of the power band, so if I needed to scoot I just hit the throttle and the power was there. I didn't have to shift half as much as before. Also, if you added a set of pipes and an air filter, bump up the jets a size or two, you'd be just fine.

a banshee really hasnt changed since the day it came out...i think the a arms was the biggest thing that changed....so if i was u ...go out and find u a nice used banshee for like 3 grand and with the rest of ur money that u saved fix her up alil bit....thats what i did..i dont think it is worth it to go out and buy a new banshee..

I think ill buy a 03' banshee finally. B) I want to stick with yamaha and the yfz450 is too expensive for me and i want to let it go for a couple of years so they can fix the bugs.
