coolhuh Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Where do you get the flag poles for the dunes that have lights all the way up the pole? Thanks Quote
Yamahammer Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 I got mine at the sand show i will try to find you a link i got the battery back up so i did not have to splice wires and it still is lit when the shee is off like a safety feature. Here is a link http://www.kdcycle.com/partsdatabase.html?cat_id=1 not where i got mine but do a serch and find a place Quote
Wallrat Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 I know I saw a light kit on albaaction.com called a desert star system that you can add to your exsisting whip for $14 or something. Either that or just make your own. Pre-built lighted whips usually run around $30-$40. Making your own will cost ya about $5 for a bulb and wire + $7 for a whip and take you about 15 minutes to solder and hook the whole thing up. I enclosed my bulb in some tygon tubing for impact resistance, no problems yet. Quote
thebloker Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 if you want the whole pole to be lit up, I know geckoglowhips.com sells them. They are a bit on the expensive side though, and the shipping is going to kill you. However, if you can find one of those in town, that is your best bet. I bought their steel whip, with the light on the top, for less than the price they want before shipping. One nice thing about their steel whips, is they are damn near indestructible, I'm not exactally sure how you would go about breaking one of their steel whips. Quote
thecabinboy Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 they got em' in Phoenix area all over the place Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Im tired of paying out the ass for lighted whips so the next one im going to make myself with a 1 watt LED on the top that should shoot out a beam like a fucking mag light. it will be a bit more expensive than it would normally cost to make your own, but still cheaper than buying one, but I already have a AC->DC->StabalizePower->Current limiting circuit made and LED's are the way to go....Or I could just power it off a NIMH battery pack for about 10 hours, and I gaurantee it will be bright as shit. (treat 1 watt LED's as a class 2 laser lol) Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 What the hell is "tygon"? its heat resistant semi-clear tubing. often used to water cool computers etc. Quote
verdoneracing Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 They sell them at the dunes either go to sweet maries, krazy kevens, or gilmore offroad. Quote
Wallrat Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I read a review online about one of those glow whips. It broke before the end of the review. Apparently it has the tendancy to flop all over the place. Quote
