Banshee crazy kid Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 does anyone here use Gamefly? I am thinking about doing that for X-mas instead of asking my dad for a shit load of $50.00 games. And forget blockbuster renting and buying games there suck + their games go on the shelf way too late unlike gamefly.. SO does anyone use gamefly? Do u like it so far? Do they send u the case or instruction booklet with the game? Any help is greatly appreciated cuz i need to know so i can let my dad know before he buys me a bunch of games. Quote
eehsnab2 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 I use it along with Netflix. I really like it. The turn around time between movies and games is like 2 days so you are really never between games and movies. No late fees either! Quote
Banshee crazy kid Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 Thanks man, Do they send u the case or instruction booklet with the game? Quote
dogboystoy Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 How does that work? is it like renting it? and how long do you get it for? Quote
Banshee crazy kid Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 u can keep single games for up to a year until they ask for it back if u keep up on your monthly charge of 21.95. Yes it is renting and they send u what ever two games u want through the mail that is about all i know so far. I think it' alot better than a local blockbuster or something, Im gonna tell my dad to sign up for it cuz i am too young. BTW u can also buy the games from them, and the games come out alot earlier than alot of stores get them like EB which is a really good store. Quote
Banshee crazy kid Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 Thanks man, Do they send u the case or instruction booklet with the game? Cmon atleast one person has gotta know..Do they or Do they not? Quote
eehsnab2 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 no, they dont send you the instructions but they do send you an email with the instructions when they send you the game. Or you can visit the website and they have them stored there. Quote
Wheatchex Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 So let me get this straight. You call them up and they send you 2 games to keep for as long as you want. But you have to pay a rental fee of $22 a month. So if you keep them a year (12 months) you have paid $264 for the privlege of playing the two games for a year and then send them back. You get nothing and have paid 264 bones with nothing to show for it. Seems to me that it makes more sense to buy 5 $50 or 6 $40 games and get to keep them for that kind of money. Plus if you want you could always sell them if you didn't like them and get some money back. I'd think twice before going the Gamefly route. Why not rent them before you buy and at least you'd know if it's one you wanted to have. If I was your dad, I might buy one or two games, but not rent them from Gamefly. Wheatchex Quote
BenBB Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 You've got a point Wheatchex, but I think the advantage to gamefly is being able to rent numerous titles. Not sure how many you could turn around in a month, because they don't send another one until the first one gets back to them, but the potential is there to play alot more games for $22/month than if you were renting them locally for $5 a pop. And another thing they offer is the ability to buy the games you want relatively cheaply, not sure but it was like $2 or $9, when you tell 'em you want to buy it they send the case & manual, and you can then "rent" another title. I think if you're in a large metro where the shipping would be quick, it would be well worth considering. Quote
