mattmans1983 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 How much can you shave your stock head and how much will you gain with ever bit you do it. I have a machine shop at home and didn't know how many .001" to take off. Thanx. Quote
boonman Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I do head mods. I will not take off any more than .030" for anyone. Any more than that and you will get an improper squish and risk serious damage. You will see some nice gains, and I am sure you will like it. I have not had one complaint.... Just make sure it is set up properly before you go cutting away. I made a jig, and I use a surface grinder..... and here is a finished head, .030" off... Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 That's what I did...still 150lbs compression on each cyl....still have stock pistons too! Quote
Dextreme Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 I am having my stock head cut to .065...but the squish will be changed as well as it will be "o-ringed". It should be cool! Quote
mrmatt Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 I just had 0.030" milled off of mine. My compression went from 120 psi to 154 psi. Which is just about the compression I was wanting so that I can continue to run premium fuel. Quote
