70duster Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 Is there anyone that specializes in flywheel lightening? Or can I have a local machine shop do it? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Allegedly you need to do it and then get it balanced. I bought a flywheel from someone here, was lightened. I started to look into it and found out this info. But, I couldn't tell the difference in it. I think it was TDR that did it a while back and possibly Duncan. I'd go to someone that has first hand experience in flywheel lightening Quote
70duster Posted August 30, 2016 Author Report Posted August 30, 2016 I tried someone on here but they never got back to me Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 How much do you weigh and what are you doing with the motor? If you're over 150 Lbs, don't bother. 1 Quote
70duster Posted August 31, 2016 Author Report Posted August 31, 2016 Im about 150 and mostly trail riding Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Quote
Bennett131 Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Probably not ideal for trail riding... Quote
SandSlingerOR Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I'm 195lbs & redline did mine & it made a improvement Quote
70duster Posted August 31, 2016 Author Report Posted August 31, 2016 Really? I thought it would allow the motor to hit powerband faster since its lighter. I know on some motors they add weights to them to keep the momentum going. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Horrible idea for any trail machine. The weight helps maintain inertia when navigating trails and turns. If it's not strictly drag on a lighter set up its wasted effort in my opinion. Quote
70duster Posted September 1, 2016 Author Report Posted September 1, 2016 OK guess I'll save a few bucks Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk Quote
jbooker82 Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 It also allows it to bog faster / easier since its lighter. Quote
