sheerider11 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 I'd be looking at the clutch. Stop riding it. A motor spinning at 10K rpm smokes a clutch really fucking fast Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 I gotcha what should I look for when taking the clutch apart? Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Old cable, welded ball/rod, bad actuator, warped pressure plate, warped hub, grooved basket, sloppy basket bushings, worn fiber, warped steels, discolored steels, burnt oil, burnt wood smell, and take a lot of pics. Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Cable, pressure plate, inner hub, actuator, busings, and shift components are all wear items. They should be checked every year, some replaced every year Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 Okay will do. Anything else you can think of while im at it? Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 So a bad clutch will prevent it from hitting the powerband? Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 So a bad clutch will prevent it from hitting the powerband?Well you say the motor revs and the bike doesn't go. That's a slipping clutch. Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 The bike goes. It goes into gear and goes into all gears fine. Im not a genius at these, in fact its my first one, thats why I am coming to you guys. I dont think the clutch is the problem, but im sure it needs to be freshend up. The atv idles fine and starts right up, but it doesnt seem to hit the power band in any gear. Max speed is maybe 25mph. Quote
sheerider11 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Does the bike spit, stutter, or pop at all? Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 Does the bike spit, stutter, or pop at all? It was doing it bad with the previous carbs. It still does it from time to time (rarely anymore) with the pwks. Quote
Cnelson47 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 It was previously bogging and misfiring to be more specific Quote
Ayesully810 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 how old are the powerbands? did you check tension? LMAOOO i always enjoy your posts Quote

That doesnt add up. SheeRider might be onto something with your clutch. Quote
broke350 Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Can you take a video of it? If it's revving all the way and just not moving, then the clutch is slipping. If it's not revving clean and that's what's causing it not to go, then it could be fuel or an electrical issue. Quote

Im beginning to think its electrical too. Should I check the compression? I am its been bored to 65mm with the matching piston and rings. Could have somehow washed them out? It seems to idle well and start too easy to have low compression in my opinion. thanks for your input Quote
