jasonsb Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I've noticed that some people use raptor axles to narrow out their drag banshees. Does a narrow axle help for hill drags? If so, will a raptor axle fit a banshee carrier, bearings, and hubs? I am putting a +6 swing arm with hauler paddles this month...should I keep the stock axle and chrome it or put a raptor axle? I don't have the money right now to put an expensive aluminum drag axle! Quote
NYUK Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 a place called metaltech can narrow your stocker for around 125. well worth it. http://www.metaltechproducts.com/ Quote
flea49 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Yes they will fit, blaster and warrier are 2 inches shorter, plus you can turn your rims in for about 2 more inches on each side just a little problem getting air. Quote
jasonsb Posted December 2, 2003 Author Report Posted December 2, 2003 So then what's my best way to go? Raptor axles are expensive because they are new bikes. I can get a warrior axle cheap! What are the differences in size...if any? Since they will fit my banshee carrier, all I have to do is buy the axle right? I already bought the bearings. Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 i would say they warrior or the blaster duno if it will mount right up Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 03 Blaster axle is supposed to be a direct replacement! Will know more in a few days... Quote
MRMOONEY Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 save your self some money, turn your hubs inside out along with the wheels she gets very narrow in the rear then. Quote
jasonsb Posted December 3, 2003 Author Report Posted December 3, 2003 To turn the hubs inside out, do you mean to take out the studs? Also, I would have to polish the inside of the rims. I wil try that so I can save some money and put it into the cost of chroming the axle. thanks for the advice Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 yeah that would probably work pretty good Quote
bronco91shee Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 just one ?, y do all u guys narrow them. I watched a guy launch, and he almost rolled over. I just dont see what advantage it has. Can ya'll enlighten me? Peace out. Quote
BaddestBanshee Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 If you want to buy an axle that will make a difference, and you want to competition drag race then check out www.mpracing.net Quote
MRMOONEY Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 NO JUST PHYSICALLY TURN THE HUBS INSIDE OUT ON THE AXLE DONT HAVE THE CHANGE THE STUDS, WITH THE HUB TRICK AND THE WHEELS ON BACKWARDS ITS GETS PRETTY NARROW, THE DRAGGERS DO THIS BECAUSE THE NARROWER IT IS THE MORE WIGHT YOU HAVE ON THE TIRES, WHICH MEAN MORE TRACTION. PLUS IT LOOKS COOL!!! Quote
Chemical Castration Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 how does narrowing the axle put more weight on the tires??? Quote
MRMOONEY Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 THERE CLOSER TO THE CENTER OF THE BIKE THIS WAY. ALSO CLOSER YOU WHERE YOU SIT THEFORE MORE WIEGHT BEING PUT ON THE TIRES Quote
Chemical Castration Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Not trying to start a flame or anything MRMOONEY but that's not true. Narrowing or widening the axle isnt going to make a difference in weight transfer. The only things that will affect weight transfer is.. adding more weight, raising the center of gravity, changing the length of your wheelbase or acceleration. The reason why narrowing the axle is beneficial is because it helps your bike go straight, thats it. Quote
