itsasheething Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Well after getting my cylinders back from being check and them still being in spec. Can i put forged wiseco pistion back in of do i need to stick with cast pistons? Quote
Lowroll Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) You can run any piston you want. Should have it honed/bored to the specific needs of that piston though. Forged is lighter and will let the engine rev faster though. Never go back to cast Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk Edited October 10, 2015 by Lowroll Quote

J-Madd Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 If you were running cast before and are just going to hone because the bore is still true then you will have to run the same size cast Pistons. If you want to go to forged you will have to have it bored. Are the old Pistons worn out? May get by with just new rings. Quote
itsasheething Posted October 11, 2015 Author Report Posted October 11, 2015 Not sure havent checked them yet. Whats the sence of wiseco selling std pistons if they still have to be bored? Do you just have to have it honed bored to meet piston tolerance if you buy standard forged pistons? Quote
Big Mike NY Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 I'm having a difficult time understanding what you guys are trying to ask???? Quote

However they expand differently so the bore needs to be established with those needed tolerances in mind. Quote
itsasheething Posted October 11, 2015 Author Report Posted October 11, 2015 Why does their site claim that pistons ate designed for a bore size and do not need any specific adjustments? Sent from my SM-G360P using Tapatalk Quote

blowit Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 You will be shooting blanks unless you learn what the bore size really is, via measuring it. If there is out-of-round (eccentricity) or taper out of spec, it will need bored but you won't know that without measuring. As far as cast vs forged, I could go at it all day but cast is just fine for mild engines. The higher silica makes them harder and less prone to wear. ie, they last longer. Lowroll Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Forged is lighter? That's always been my understanding based on my readings. Perhaps not always the case? Quote
