Hi everyone! I just got a set of used Toomey T5's and was trying to repack the silencers and am having the hardest time trying to get the retainer clip off at the tip part of the silencer. I've tried using needle nose plyers but it just isn't cutting the mustard. Does anyone that has a set of T5's know a good way of getting this clip off? It's the only thing holding me back right now and if you've repacked your silencers I'm pretty sure you know which clip it is I'm talking about...I could take a pic of what I'm having trouble with if that would help. Any input is greatly appreciated!!!! THANKS!!

you need a pair of SNAP RING pliers to do it correctly... go to your local harbor freit (sp) and pick up a cheap pair, then try it agian.

Harbor Freight snap ring pliers are crap! I have been through Harbor Freight (cracked tip), NAPA (strong but too much angle to grip), Channelock (cracked tip & stripped bit holder), and Craftsman.

Craftsman snap ring pliers with interchangeable tips hold up the best. I have taken off my T5 silencer caps many times changing back and forth between Hush Kit and regular tips.

next time you have to repack them leave the packing completely and go ride, it sounds wild.

where do you get the pack to repack the silencers?

If you mean the packing itself....go to any Lowes or Home Depot and get the good old Corning Pink Panther home insulation...works just fine....

Or pay 3 times the price and get some Toomey or FMF branded packing, your choice....
