421stroker Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I am trying to do the wiring on my rzshee project and in the wiring diagram that I have shows a black and white wire coming off of the cdi. It is supposed to go to the engine stop switch, ypvs control unit and the main switch. Does anyone know what I should do. Thanks Quote
BenBB Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 (edited) OK I'm no expert but I'm working on an RZ also. I took the wiring diagram from the factory service manual on Viking's site and cut it down to what I think is all I need: It appears that when that black/white wire is grounded, it kills the motor, just like a Banshee...not real sure what it does in the YPVS controller, unless that controller can signal the CDI to turn off for some reason. Is this what you were looking for or not? Sorry I took out the key switch, mine won't have one... Edited July 21, 2006 by BenBB Quote
broke Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Mine is wired up kind of different because I ran into an issue with it firing, so I have no stop switch, just a toggle that breaks or completes the circuit. Anyway, I have the B/W wire just running straight from my CDI to the PV controller. This probably didn't help much, but was just to show that it can bypass everything else. broke Quote
421stroker Posted November 27, 2003 Author Report Posted November 27, 2003 What color of wires do you have coming out of your cdi? I have a 52y with an orange, red/white, white/red, green/white, green, brown, black, and black/yellow. There is no black/white coming out of my cdi. There is no black/yellow going into the pv controller just one going to the ypvs motor. I do have a black/yellow coming out of the pv controller though. I don't know if I am making sense or not but thanks for your help. Quote

421stroker Posted December 10, 2003 Author Report Posted December 10, 2003 Ok, heres what I've got exactly and it doesn't seem to work. It doesn't turn the powervalves when power is on. I haven't got far enough to start it up. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 The b/y should go to the pvcu, that is how mine is wired, i believe the b/y send the rpms to the pvcu, without that it dont work. I still think you have the wrong pvcu Quote
421stroker Posted January 17, 2004 Author Report Posted January 17, 2004 Ok, I am this close to going insane. I cant get my wiring on this rz correct. This is my last try at getting this thing working or I am going to burn it all. I have no B/W wire coming out of my CDI and I have no B/Y coming out of my pvcu. I have bought two pvcu's and regulator/rectifiers and am sure that my pv servo is good. I know that my stator is good also. I can't get the pv servo to turn over. I have it hooked up just like my diagram above. How can I not have these wires and the diagram does. Do I need some switches or something elso. Someone help me befor a do something I'll regret. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Don't worry about the B/W wire, I don't have one either, I just hooked up my kill switch backwards and ran it inline with the coil wire. I will have to check on mine for the B/Y....Come into chat if you want to talk to me. Quote
421stroker Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 Hey rzcolo can you match up these wires also when you get time. I cut them and dont know which ones to conect. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Those white wires all connect together, it doesn't matter which ones Quote
Meat Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Ok, heres what I've got exactly and it doesn't seem to work. It doesn't turn the powervalves when power is on. I haven't got far enough to start it up. 421stroker are you using a battery ??? If your running a battery, the powervalves should go through a cleaning cycle before you start up the motor. You can hear the powervalves cylce. If your running a "battery eliminator", the engine does not do its little powervalve cleaning cycle. I hope I dont have any problems. I havent done mine yet. I have all the electronics except the powervalve control box. I got all '85 electronics and im going to use the whole wiring harness. Just plug all my boxes into the harness. simple. I hope Quote
