giersi8827 Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 Hi I have an 2004 banshee its been giving me trouble it start and idle an runs good but when I give to much gas It backfire from the left I tried every thing replaced a lot of parts to see if its go away but still the same yesterday I instaled a new stator and magneto but it doesn't start with the new magneto dont now why the old one doesn't seems to been spinning straight they told me maybe that can be it Everything is stock Quote
Surfrjag Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 Im going to assume you have new plugs, cut back wires to caps, the slides are in properly along with proper pickup gap and clean and properly jetted carbs... Since it sounds like you have tried a few things I would go ahead and do a leakdown test. If your new stator and flywheel are afyermarket peices its likely they are junk. Stick to oem stuff Quote
trickedcarbine Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 ^ or..... Take a peek at the reeds and give it a comp test. Quote
Bennett131 Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 ive had exhaust packing cause a backfire, as well as what was already said. Quote
Bennett131 Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 ^^^ By that i mean wore out packing. Quote
sleeper06 Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 90% of backfires are air leaks or lean pops Quote
bluebanshee98 Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 ^ this. Could also be the coil. If you know someone with a proven good working one try swapping that out. It's quick and easy Quote
giersi8827 Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 Yesterday it jus broke the piston and damage the cilinder so now I got more trouble to deal with Quote
sheerider11 Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 So you continued to run it?Well duh. Just because it's backfiring or running like shit that dosent mean there's a problem. It's just doing that. It was just about to fix itself. Quote
Surfrjag Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 It happened during the leakdown test...? Quote
sleeper06 Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 It's funny everyone thinks it will just clear out as you found out not the case def had an air leak and that backfire was a lean pop telling you please stop Quote
Surfrjag Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Its the ol rev it till it clears out Like freeing up a crank... Quote
trickedcarbine Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Its the ol rev it till it clears out Like freeing up a crank... Neighbor kid thinks he can diagnose every issue by revving the piss out of any car, truck, bike, snowmo.... It's funny really. He had a valve tick, rather then wait for his old man or I to take the cover off and see what was wrong, he just revved the hell out of it till the rocker just came right off... Quote
