robert0762 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Hey guys I need some work done to a honda style carrier. I need 35 thousandths taken off of the clamping surfaces. I have tried all my local guys and they dont have time to bother with a 30 dollar job . So if someone can do it or recommend someone who can please do. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk Quote
SOUTHTHIRTY Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Check Craigslist ... its hard to get anything done for just $30 Quote
robert0762 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Report Posted December 1, 2014 Ive worked in a machine shop its a ten min fix I do understand they have an operating cost but I will not pay an extravagant amount of money just because you really dont want to do a lower paying job . A lot of these places do production and fab work so a quick fix isnt worth their time. It wont fit in the swingarm. Its a banshee arm. Looks like lonestar. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk Quote
robert0762 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Report Posted December 1, 2014 I have a few carriers they are all the same size for some reason the swinger is a lil smaller. I bought it used and it came with a carrier but it wasnt installed now I know why Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Oh I see... Maybe changing the swingarm would be easier? Quote
JTmachining Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 $30 to machine haha. Try spreading the housing open more to get carrier in. In pics I see bout 100 thou diff? Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 What's the issue? Carrier won't fit in the swingarm housing? Quote
rockenrail Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Is carrier housing warped from welding? I can turn the carrier down.....but I won't guarantee it not to slip inside a warped carrier housing. I have turned one of these before to remove chain rash on both the sprocket end and the offset center section.....that was a fun setup in the lathe. Quote
robert0762 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Report Posted December 1, 2014 Those calipers have markings for .01. Pic is older. Ive since measured with more precise tools Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk Quote
