hughmyron Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Ive owned 39mm pwk and liked em with my previous setup, just hated taking them off and putting them back on for tuning. The run down on my new setup is going to be a 421 cub with sb in frame shearer pipes, av gas, not sure on timing yet, 160psi compression and a stock trans. Bike will be a race bike stand up i can rip in the trails by trails i dont mean tight trails. Im curious to see your opinion on which you prefer and why? Edited October 8, 2014 by hughmyron Quote
hughmyron Posted October 8, 2014 Author Report Posted October 8, 2014 Why do you take the carbs off for tuning? Just unscrew the plug on the bowl, MAIN JET TUNING FTW. i know but it gets old with inframes. Alot easier to just pull em off at the boot take the tank off pull the carbs up and switch jets. i loved them though. Quote

RadarRacing Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Honestly, I have owned, tuned , or jacked with numerous sets of both and keihins on gas are easier. Lectrons need the needle adjusted which requires 3 screws to be removed which means you have to pull them from the intakes at least, then do the screws. I can do a mainjet swap in a few seconds on pwks , and needle selection is a snap with adjustments made pretty quick. I like either carb but I wouldnt pick one over the other based on how hard or easy it is to physically make the changes. If you have the wrong needles on lectrons you will be out 50 to 70 dollars easy and wait time would be a week. If you have the wrong keihin mainjets you can usually get them locally or do what I do and drill them if you need bigger. 1 Quote
hughmyron Posted October 10, 2014 Author Report Posted October 10, 2014 Talked to my porter and he says with c12s the PWK's would be his choice so im going with those. Thanks for your opinion radar. Quote
joshb Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 When tuning lectrons why would you put the 3rd screw back in? Quote
JTmachining Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 Lectrons FTW. I only use two screws on top cover. Also Lectrons have a metering rod not a needle. Only thing I tune on my Lectrons is da PJ. I set my rod height n it's been good for Cali, OR, n OK. 2 Quote

dave5.0 Posted October 10, 2014 Report Posted October 10, 2014 Who the f takes the tank and shit off to change main jets? Is this turd really going to have stock suspension? If so why waste money with 39s? Put 35s on it. Tune them in the bike. Quote
