So I broke one of the springs on my works shock and ordered a replacement spring. Can anyone tell me how to compress the new spring in order to get it on. I know I can rent a spring compressor from autozone but I think it might be too big.

You can compress them with your hands. A second set of hands will come in "handy" to remove the collar on the bottom of the shock.

Yea I can't even come close to compressing it enough with my hands. Im gonna go try autozone now and if that doesn't work ill hit up the gym and try with my hands again

It can be done. Just did it to a set of works with dual rate springs. You're going to find out that the spring compressors from auto stores will have jaws that are too thick to put into the springs. You might find a good set but I was unable to. Resorted to the vice and man card.

^ no no no no no no no no no! Never bank on a zip tie holding a spring. Bad idea all around, even multiple zip ties.

I wasn't suggesting he do it, just seen it done!lol
