Clutch issues

Leave the ball in. Also the word is "engaging" it was confusing when i read it as well. Make sure your clutch cover isnt touching or very very close to the pressure plate. In this case your lockup plate. On a Gigot slingshot lockup you have to grind the tabs in the clutch cover or the clutch will not "disengage" . Could be similar for the vitos, hope it helps.

I took the 8th plate out and clutch works perfect. Nobody has delt with this problem? I guess to run 8 plates you must need a longer pancake bearing?

I didn't get a chance to read that, I think you are 100% right!! Now that you mention it, I believe those tabs were to close and not allowing it to release.

trying to run 8 plates on a Mattoon basket with driveline lock up and unmachined inner clutch hub?

 

7 plate and the driveline lock up will hold north of 120hp without using the stiffest springs or all the balls.

Yes problem is fixed by removing the 8th plate.

I'm sure I will be fine with the 7 plates like you say. Bike has not been on a dyno, but judging by others i hope to be rite around that 120hp #.
