Cunningham94 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I own a mostly stock banshee and would be considered very slow compared to what most of what you guys run lol. This may be a very stupid question but I hear all you guys talking about cubs, serval, Athena cheetah and many other cylinders, what is the difference between a stock cylinder and all these other cylinders? Is it just brand names? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Difference is how the cylinder runs. Where the power is gonna be. More horsepower. Cubs/servals are so popular because they use stock style components . In theory you could take a bone stock bike and put a cub/serval on and use everything else u already have. Athena cyls come with pretty high port timings. If your gonna build an engine, just tell us what you do mostly and we can give you the best options.WTF? Skeeter, you must be feeling the valentines day spirit if you're giving out viable information like that. OP, there are tons of different cylinder kits out now. Some good, some junk. They can pretty much be tailored to your liking if you are willing to have a builder them set up right. Quote
Cunningham94 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Im not planning on doin anything to it as far as cylinders, its got pipes, and filter as of now. I actually just got v force reeds today and timing plate tomorrow. Eventually want to bump up compression, ported and weld the crank. I do mostly riding around the farm and what not but make many trips to silver lake Quote
uman1030 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 you may find that once your vforce reeds are installed it has a dead spot or hesitation in the lower rpm range just off idle, these reeds like a larger pilot then stock reeds. Quote
Cunningham94 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Yeah thats what I have heard and rode a few. I talked to rdz racing (not trying to start a customer service war) wasnt committing to just him just price quoting. He said he could weld and true the crank, port, milled head and freshen up the top end with new pistons for around 6-800 dollars. Port job was 200, milled head was 50, and wiseco pistons at 400. Cunningham94 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 I plan on rejeting it since its already fairly lean as far as mains go, maybe I should bump up to 30 pilots and ditch the 27.5s that are in it? Quote
