JCSO605 Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I'm new to running alky and just trying to make sure I do things right. I have learned a lot from the hq. but when purging with gas do you have bump down or adjust timing at all during purging ? Quote
Tedder Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 No. You can leave the timing alone. Regular pump fuel works fine for purging. Don't waste your money on expensive race gas. I mix the oil ratio a little heavier in my purge. Quote
Finch Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Since your not riding it or putting it under a load its fine. I just use 91 oct Quote
Zillaguy Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I was curious about purging... Why do you need to purge with gasoline? Does alcohol damage things if it is left in the carbs/motor? Quote

LCW Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Moisture rusts nice steel bearing and cranks. Most people purge immediately after they are done riding. I have let a couple of mine set for a few days, but watch the humidity. If it's dry out, I won't purge until the week/weekend of riding is over. Quote
Finch Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 i purge when im done for the weekend as said attracts moisture also can eat away alum if sat for long periods Quote
JCSO605 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Report Posted February 2, 2014 Yeah I will definetly have to purge after every ride I live in a very humid area along the gulf coast. Quote
