peterlocal22 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Im running the AC Pro Peg Nerf Bars but I need get a different style because Im thinking about throwing some 22 inch tires in the rear. I have a -2 swing arm and Im pretty sure the tire is going to rub against the heel guard on the Nerf bars. I really love the AC Pro Peg with heel guards but will need to make a change. Can anyone recommend a nerf bar that will work with my set up? thanks in advance Quote
trickedcarbine Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Tough call for anything with a heel guard to clear 22" tires on a -2 swinger. There are those nerfs with heel guards on the Ebay Europe. But I wouldn't hold your breath on making that work Quote
peterlocal22 Posted November 13, 2013 Author Report Posted November 13, 2013 Yes I agree, I will have to run no heel guard. Looking for reviews from guys with no heel nerf bars or maybe Ill just cut my heel guards off. Quote
sheerider11 Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 I don't run heel guards on my nerfs. I usually lean way back on the pegs, so a heel guard would be in my way. But I also run IMS pegs. So my foot is pretty firmly planted on the peg Quote
87sheerips Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 if you run into clearance issue you can send the bars to me and I can modify them for you. Just a thought. Quote
rjdgriff Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 nerf bars also help in trails. The keep brush and shit from coming off the front tires and smacking you. and these nerfs work well. They are AC bars and I'm actually thinking I will sell them Quote
peterlocal22 Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 Im thinking of just cutting the heel guard down a little and re-welding. Also might run 21 inch rears so save an inch over the 22's Quote

RagunCajun Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 OP, i have a set of pro armor nerf bars without heel guards. Id trade you. Shoot me a pm if interested. Quote
rjdgriff Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 you all must ride like a bunch of cheerleaders then. We have tons of close calls around here. Also nerfs help keep you from tipping over and help save your plastics if you do tip over. I have been on 2 tires (sideways) before and the nerfs kept me from going over. But I guess some people just don't like to push their luck Quote
peterlocal22 Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 I agree nerf are for more than just MX. Products might be first imagined for one thing but it doesn't mean that's all you can use it for. Look at plado, lol Quote
peterlocal22 Posted November 15, 2013 Author Report Posted November 15, 2013 comparing a roll cage to nerf bars, thats a stretch! the banshee was made for the dunes does that mean you should only run it in the sand? Quote

trickedcarbine Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Nothing wrong with nerfs. They keep me out of the Kold Kutters for the most part and tend to keep other riders tires off me. I use them for different foot placement for better traction and it helps a ton Quote
ATVridinMaNiAc Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 While nerfs can be annoying what they provide outweighs that, protection from other bikes, debris flying up, helps with balancing out on extreme leans, gives you more foot placement options if need be, helps haul a passenger, helps prevent floot slipping off peg or getting caught in tire, gives a good place to grab incase something happends and you need to lift the bike up onto its side or flip it over if its on top of somebody or something. Things i hate about them is the extra 50lbs of mud they collect and how sometimes shit gets stuck in the nets, sometimes your foot can actually get caught in it also other than that i like them.
