89mustang Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Yesterday I installed v force v4 reeds. I cut the tabs off the intake boots made sure everything was flush bolted it up. Started it idle seemed normal took it for a quick spin came back and it had a high idle. It might be the jetting I have a 27.5 pilots stock needle in third clip and a 300 main. My question is there a way to check and see if the Reed gasket are leaking? Quote
sprinklerman Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Pump some pressure to it and spray around the boots with Windex. If it bubbles, you have leak. Quote
89mustang Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 there's a thread on here how to make a leak down tester. You think my pilots or jetting would be close for 650' elevation Quote
trickedcarbine Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Idle May also be high due to lean pilot. Those reeds like one size up from what would normally be in there. But do the leak down, hell you could even use a propane torch to blow UNLIT propane out the tip around all sealing areas and it will change the idle if it sucks in the added fuel source. Thus a leak. 89mustang Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Would carb cleaner work? Like when your looking for a vacuum leak on a car. Quote
89mustang Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Got home sprayed carb cleaner all around the reed block gaskets found nothing. I took it for a ride and it was idling fine when I got home Quote
sprinklerman Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Could be a worn or dry cable. Or a sticky slide too. Also make sure the needle retainer/ cable holders are installed properly. The "open" side allows it to vent supposedly. Quote
89mustang Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Alright thank you ill check that Quote
