BeeCanBanshee Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Ok so Im thinking of getting a drag/dune port and fresh topend from hjr but got to thinking and his bolt in 4mil kit is basically the same price. What's the better thing to do? Downside to the 4mil is I probably won't have money for a port for a while. Basically is the stock port 4mil going to be slower than stock stroke ported? Quote
oldskool Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 A HJR drag port on a stock crank will prolly be faster than a +4 mil crank on unported cylinders. When you go with a stroker crank, you should have cylinders port timing changed to work with extra stroke Quote
trickedcarbine Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 ^this! Poor guy has been exactley where you are and regrets it to this day! Haha, I had to Jesse! Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Yea if I could I would wait but my top end is due. My end result if I ever have the funds is a 10mil... I didn't search this much but couldn't I get ported then later on get a crank and blaster pistons to match port timings? Or are those pistons only used for stock heads? So even a unported 4mil wouldn't have much gain over stock unported Quote
dirtydownunder Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 dune port stock will eat a stock port 4mm. save another 600 for 4mm crank n seals. steal money off ya parents. do some bag snatching, wash windows at stop lights. 1 Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Haha you forgot beg the ol lady to let me dump 1k in my bike Quote
oldskool Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 If I had to choose now, I would get the HJR port on stock crank with a 45 dollar timing plate set at +4 degree and ask about porting cylinders for a 4mil crank later on. You can run the 4mil without porting, Just ask hjr and see what they say. You will not be disappointed with the stock crank port and timing considering your budget and urgency Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted June 19, 2013 Author Report Posted June 19, 2013 Yea I have all supporting mods already pipes, timing plate, coolhead etc I think ill go with the port. Thanks guys. Quote

So even a unported 4mil wouldn't have much gain over stock unported Get the 4 mill bottom end, then put Vito's Super Stock pistons in it. (They simulate porting and will boost you 7 more HP.) We have done this combo a lot! Then later when your ready for porting, you can get that done and go with standard Wiseco pistons. At least moving forward you will always have a good bottom end. Sure would hate to see you get porting, then have it all trashed when your old crank bearings grenade from all the added power and RPM...... 1 Quote
oldskool Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Windy, does vito's make a super stock piston for the long rod or are you using short rod? Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted June 20, 2013 Author Report Posted June 20, 2013 That is a good idea. But I also just had my stock crank true, welded and inspected by hjr about 3 months ago. I think it will handle it. Quote
