Fast_quad_03 Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I got my completely stock 2003 banshee about a month ago. Its about time for it to be rebuilt and im thinking about building my motor to perform a little better. It will only be a play quad ridden on trails and back roads. Ive really never owned a 2 stroke. But have heard if built right that these quads will beat my yz450. So what i want to know is what are some good modifications to do to a trail quad that will really wake it up. And whats the best brands to go with? I have a small budget of $1000 to build on for a while Im really looking for reliability because i hate when shit breaks all the time. Thanks for any help Quote
Fast_quad_03 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Report Posted April 26, 2013 What are current mods? For a grand, I would send jugs out to be bored. Also have them ported. That is like $600ish right there. Get your stock head cut and buy an adjustable timing plate, that is like another $100ish. Get a set of reeds, can range from $100-200. Just make sure you jet it correctly and put it back together. Last money for gaskets, seals, and jets. This is assuming you have pipes and dont need more than a top end rebuild. Right now it is bone stock. Performance wise. I took the snorkle off the air box, and found out it has the throttle over ride system removed too. Other info about it is that im the second owner, it has been rebuilt 3 times, lights do not work (dont know why yet) chain is new and he said its geared down to be quick. Ive never heard of porting for small motor like this. Is it worth it to port it? Quote
tdod101 Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Well for $500 I ordered a TORS removal kit, carb rebuild kit x2 k&n air filter pods vforce 4 reeds a new choke plunger all from fast a site sponsor. Those items right there will put some lead in your pencil Quote
Glenyboy Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Shocks and extended a arms for trails. Quote

Fast_quad_03 Posted April 27, 2013 Author Report Posted April 27, 2013 Well im calling fullflight to order some +2+1 a arms. Then the rest of my money will go towards a dune play port from herr hugs racing and a new pro lite top end. Any idea what shocks are best with fullflight a arms? Quote

noonansar Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Look for some used fmf fattys, toomey t5s, or dmc 916s. Dont bother buying a jet kit, just buy the jets you need from a local shop or dealer. Quote

Carb rebuild kit is $15 bucks a piece so $30 for two, come with everything you need to rebuild a carb obviously, all new internal parts. Why do you say $500 is ouch ? The vforce reeds alone were $195 factor in $50 for shipping to Canada, and all the other parts I think I got a great deal Quote
