04_blu_shee Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Just courious do you all use a ring compressior or just squeeze the rings in place and slide the jug over the piston. Quote
Finch Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 just line the gap up with pin on piston and squeeze by hand Quote
04_blu_shee Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 Thats how my friend installed mine last time, I didnt know if a ring compressior was easier or not...thanks for your input Finch Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Good to use one with a 4 stroke piston where there is 91280198731 rings per piston. 2 stroke, squeeze by hand as said. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 Squeeze rings by hand it is...again thanks SAVAGE420 Quote
RadarRacing Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 2 pokes can be done by hand . Dont forget....You usually want to gap the rings first before install. Check and make sure there is about a .012 gap with the rings stuck in the cylinder and not on a piston. Quote
Pastrykiller Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 Don't grab it like you do in the bathroom. Actually the larger the ring, the easier to compress it to install. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 .012 I'll be sure to check that Radar....Im wanting this thing to run as hard as I think it should so I need everything to be perfect, Time and Money this winter my wife was really calm and cool with all my purchases and machine work prices Quote
2strokeshees Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 Take your time, if you suspect anything not going smoothly, take the head off inspect everything and try again, a buddy actually broke a ring putting a head on is yz 250 and ruined his weekend trip because he was in a hurry. Not something to rush. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 Tonight I installed my Hotrods crank put cases together and primary gear on tomarrow night the pistons jugs intakes getting it ready to pressure check it probablly sun I want the gasket material on the cases to fully set before pressure. You guys say add 6 psi and how long does it need to hold pressure. Quote
rubberneck Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 6 psi and let it sit for 6 minutes. It should lose no more than 1psi per minute, ideally none. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 6psi for 6 min. that is what I thought but I wanted to run it past you...thanks Rubberneck Quote
