a.diercks Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 On way out for a cruise with a buddy when his motor is warming up, and suddenly stalls and makes funny noise. He goes to kick it and it seizes(still turned over but with loud metal on metal sound). Took it to the ER for tear down expecting bad rings or something worse and come to find out after pulling cylinders off(no scratches or any signs of scarring), clutch out(little lose, needed to be replaced but not the issue), and flywheel off- a stock timing plate screw came loose and was rubbing the flywheel hard enough to make it almost impossible to kick over. If this would've been my ride, I'd be boring, honing, and replacing rings and pistons with my luck. He gets stuck with a good spare clutch basket I had and having to get new top end gasket kit. Interesting issue, maybe someone else has seen something like this? Quote
