CodyRosa Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Hey everyone, Today I checked my compression on the banshee, 80-90 in the left and 40-50 in the right =( Hope I did something wrong lol, anyways I looked at both pistons and the one on the left is all silver on the top and the piston on the right has a circular indent with numbers stamped in it "30M6" or something very very close to that. Is the piston on the right stock or no? What do those numbers mean?? I'm new to Banshee's so I obviously have no idea lol Thanks Quote
trickedcarbine Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 With the readings you got, it's time for a rebuild anyway. Yank the top end off and get it honed or bored and order some Weisco or WSM pistons to replace them. Dont make a "what mods should I do while it's apart" thread either unless you are ready to begin letting your banshee rape your wallet. It's addicting and there is just so much that can be done to these friggin things. 2 Quote
CodyRosa Posted March 26, 2013 Author Report Posted March 26, 2013 Haha I don't plan on it. It seems to be quite expensive. I'm going to wait for my dad to kick it over later and if he gets the same readings(this is first time doing compression test) then i'll take that top end apart. Anything I should look for when I open up that top end? Like wiggling the piston and check bearings etc.? Quote
a.diercks Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Not a hundred percent positive, but my stock pistons had only an arrow on them pointing to the front, not numbers or letters but maybe that would vary throughout the years. Best way to check is get micrometer. stock is 64mm. GL Quote
Jereme6655 Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 how do you know what the pistons say on them and how they look if you haven't opened up the top end? or are you using a bore scope? Quote
04_blu_shee Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Exactly what trickcarbine said the moon is the limit on building a Banshee...so far this winter ive got $1500 in mine and I'm tearing it down and putting it back together myself money really is no object with these things but when you WFO a built Banshee, nothing compairs to it. Have fun with yours. 1 Quote
CodyRosa Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 Thanks for the responses! To see the numbers I just took the spark plug off and lit it up with a flashlight lol. I think it might be a Wiseco piston? At least it looks like the same one on ebay listed as a Wiseco. I Also think it was bored over at one point? The dome(i think that's what its called?) has some scratches on it but the piston and cylinder walls don't have a mark on them. I did end up pulling the motor, found out connecting rod bearings are absolutely shot lol, got about 3 inches of play, not sure if that means crank shaft is shot to? Looks like I'll be splitting the case soon! http://imgur.com/kpbuoxg Quote
