  1. Possibly.. more than likely yes. Very easy. I did it in like 10 minutes for my first time. No need to pop the motor out. Just take the head of and go from there.. your only going to see the tops of pistons.
  2. Just curious, how is it cheaper? I only need connecting rod bearings. All other bearings are fine. We've got a press as well.
  3. http://imgur.com/ys99rlX&uUwfIlF http://imgur.com/ys99rlX&uUwfIlF#1 My connecting rod bearings are shot so I'm wondering how to pop these connecting rods off. They say CK 1.2.1 on the side of them, so are those stock rods or aftermarket? Thanks
  4. Ok so maybe they lost the 12mm nut on the clutch basket they had before, ended up getting a new clutch basket and just left that nut in there?Still not sure what that chewed up metal is. I have an idea but not 100%. The bracket that holds the case together actually broke so maybe its that.
  5. i have a billet racing clutch, there is a 12mm on that already. the big gear on the clutch basket is fine, little marks but thats from that idler gear, i had a bad bushing on it.
  6. it was next to the shift forks but i heard it ratting in there. its a 12mm
  7. http://imgur.com/jhUMjIz I split my case like 30minutes ago and found this, a nut and some chewed up metal. All the gears look perfect in the motor, the crank looks good except for shot connecting rod bearings =(. Where would be my first best bet as to finding where this came from? I've never heard this motor run but it does shift good with no issues. Thanks
  8. Hi, sorry for all these threads asking if its stock or aftermarket.. I'm slowly pulling this motor apart and I'm curious what they upgraded. I saw a picture of a stock one and it didn't look like that much. http://imgur.com/F6CdFHS Thanks
  9. Thanks for the responses! To see the numbers I just took the spark plug off and lit it up with a flashlight lol. I think it might be a Wiseco piston? At least it looks like the same one on ebay listed as a Wiseco. I Also think it was bored over at one point? The dome(i think that's what its called?) has some scratches on it but the piston and cylinder walls don't have a mark on them. I did end up pulling the motor, found out connecting rod bearings are absolutely shot lol, got about 3 inches of play, not sure if that means crank shaft is shot to? Looks like I'll be splitting the case soon! http://imgur.com/kpbuoxg
  10. Haha I don't plan on it. It seems to be quite expensive. I'm going to wait for my dad to kick it over later and if he gets the same readings(this is first time doing compression test) then i'll take that top end apart. Anything I should look for when I open up that top end? Like wiggling the piston and check bearings etc.?
  11. Hey everyone, Today I checked my compression on the banshee, 80-90 in the left and 40-50 in the right =( Hope I did something wrong lol, anyways I looked at both pistons and the one on the left is all silver on the top and the piston on the right has a circular indent with numbers stamped in it "30M6" or something very very close to that. Is the piston on the right stock or no? What do those numbers mean?? I'm new to Banshee's so I obviously have no idea lol Thanks
  12. Oh sorry guess I should have made that clear. When I wiggle it back and forth. It spins, and I can kick the machine over. If i'm looking at the gear head on and move it left and right should it move just a hair or be very stiff like it was welded on.
  13. I bought a Kickstart Idler Gear, used out of an 04, came from an excellent running machine. Bushing, clip, washer look in excellent condition. Is the gear supposed to be firm and not move AT all as if it were welded onto that shaft or should it have a very small amount of play? I can move this one barely, and I put it on like: Washer, Gear, D Washer, Clip. Is that the right way? We have yet to check compression on this machine so I'm just wondering should you be able to move the kickstart all the way down with your hand? I saw these are only like a 6.1 to 1 compression or something like that. Also what kind of compression am I looking at for this machine? 120 is good, 110 means rebuild soon and 90 I should just rebuild it? I'll be checking compression tomorrow. I have more questions but i'll wait till tomorrow to post pictures. Thanks!
  14. Yea I can have my dad run to the yamaha dealer and check. So that clutch vent is pointless? Thanks for all the help everyone
  15. Hi everyone, today someone helped me find out where my leak was. That O ring on the coolant line. The one to the right of the clutch basket. What should i type in on ebay to find this O ring? I tried searching and can NOT find it at all. Tried searching banshee coolant line o ring, O ring coolant line banshee and still nothing. Do they not make these anymore??? Or am i searching the wrong thing completely? Thanks
