Leadfoot350 Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I just rebuilt my motor and now I have 140psi before break in. I have 18cc domes at sea level and a mx port. Is this normal???? I was thinking that 190-220 is what I would have. Or will it go up after the break in? I need to know what gas to run so it wont blow up. Quote
Lanky Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 doing a compression test on a cold engine doesnt justify anything.(plz correct me if im wrong) Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted October 22, 2003 Author Report Posted October 22, 2003 is this true?????? DO I need to warm it up first?????? Quote
fixitrod Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Your rings will shape to the cylinders as you break it in. That's why you hone them. I'm not sure if you get that high but you will probably see an increase after break in. Some books I've read say do the test cold and some say warm. It's just a static compression. When it runs, depending on a lot of factors, your running compression my be very high. That's why some have to run high octane fuel even though their static compression isn't super high. Quote
Indubitably Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 It might be because of the porting they probably changed the port timing Quote
fixitrod Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Oh yeah, I over read that part. Ask them if they raised your exhaust port. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted October 23, 2003 Author Report Posted October 23, 2003 Ya it is all ported and everything is different including boost ports but even if I got 16cc domes that might put me at 170? That is about where I want to be but did not think that I would have to use 16cc domes Quote
