1CrazyBastard Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Whats up everyone i am new to the forum just got a Banshee a month or so ago and absolutely fell in love with it .I need a little help or maybe a suggestion on jetting it can anyone here help me out of tell me where to look for the info .I have a stock engine ,stock reeds ,with Toomey T6 pipes and stock carbs .I am at "sea level " and was running the stock air box with the t6 pipes and dynojet # 280 jets in the mains and the needles are in the 4 th slot it was running perfect then I installed k & n air filters and took it for a short ride and well it didnt feel right so i went home and piulled the plugs yep lean lookin .Everyone says the 280 jets should be plenty but I thing it needs more fuel due to the way it drove and the way the plugs looked .It has good compression and like I said it was running perfect prior to the k & n filter install .Anyone else have a banshee with a similar or same set up at or near sea level as I will fiqure it out but it would be good to get some advice to save some time and headaches .I ordered 290 , 300 and 310 main jets as well as 27.5 and 30 pilot jets just so I have em . bluebanshee98 Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 welcome and enjoy the forum. when you give it more air ( k&n air filter) you need more fuel ( bigger main jet). you might have to go up a size to 290 and see what it reads after a plug chop. a actual plug chop ( cutting away the threads and looking at the plugs) will give you the best answer and will tell you alot about your jetting. you will prob use a 27.5 pilot. your jetting with 280 should be pretty damn close though... you may have a slight air leak. like i said do a plug chop with 290 and see what it reads. if you are not sure how to do a correct plug chop look on the site and you will find it. i was running 280 mains in the summer ( stock bike with pipes , k&n air filter in box with lid off and the same elevation) and 300 mains in the winter Quote
bansheeboie Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Welcome to the site. There's a lot of good knowledge on here if you pay attention to the forums. Like blue stated above, more air = more fuel. So bump ur jet size up and do a plug chop and see how shee runs. Get sum pics up of ur results when u can. Quote

Thanks guys and yes I understand plug chop I have worked on outboard engines for 30 years now and love two stroke engines it needs more fuel I'm gonna try the 290s and see how it goes it was definitely not right with the 280 s once I put the k & n s on it .Glad to see a forum where people actually reply and post actively AWESOME !! also I found the section for jetting on the forum and its got good info on similar set ups .I am just a newb to the forum but you'll probably see me on here quite bit in the future Quote

ATVridinMaNiAc Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Nice, those look like PRM nerfs? and yea fuck the keys get a timing plate or mod your own when i did mine it seemed like it revved quicker and had a little more power mostly low and mid. Quote
Glenyboy Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Shakar has a set if those nerfs in the forsale section, they look nice but I could imagine them to get a bit slippery if your feet made contact with the plates Quote
ginger Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 i do have a used timing plate sitting in my toolbox. Quote
