Need some help to start Banshee after a winter..

Recommended Posts

My banshee just won't start after the winter. I've been doing some searches; I'm reading interesting stuff, but I'm looking for more easy or precise advice about situation. Heres the details for now;

-Bought the Banshee in december and never really ride it, except than starting the Banshee and having a test ride before bying it.

-Was planning to ride it during winter but I lost interest in the process of trying to wire lights back on while I'm freezing in my non heated garage :( ( -20 degres celius winter)

-I did start it during the winter 1 time, but thats it. It was easy to start; 2-3 kicks.

-Then I realize that the previous owner was an idiot: he put water in the radiator but some how I got lucky and there is no damage after water frozens!! I'm glad I thought about it before the engine or anything cracked..

Plus he used scotch tape to protect electric wires!! So I redid all the wires and took out all the unnecessary wires to make it clean. Used a very simple wire diagram http://www.motorcityatv.com/yamaha-banshee-qa/ (without the lights).

-So i have fire on each plugs.

-I crank the engines and the engine just wont start with/without choke/ with/without filter/ new 91 gas/ new mixture 32:1

-I check plugs and they are oily and black. I read that it means its too rich or jetting problems.

-I try new plugs and theyre oily/black after 10 kicks. Try to wipe/clean and still wont start.

-I tried to empty the carbs by kicking with valve off/full throttle..nothing after

Right now I cant check comp, so I would like to hear advice other than that.

I will start to have a look and clean my carbs, maybe they have moist/residu after the winter and the jets are fuc***

Mods

-TORS removed

-T4 pipes

-4mil strokes 385cc(not too much details on it)

-Aftermarket cylinders

-Cool heads

-Reed valves 3

-Kehin PWK(33mm?)

- electrical unit to advance timing(is that possible!?..theres a little clock with numbers on the side..)

For the rest, I dont know cause the last owner didnt know much but I wanted to start with a stroker/pipes/bigger carbs modded Banshee because I know mods are really expensive( I owned a modified car so..)

As you can see, I'm getting started into the 2 strokes..I have basic mechanic knowledge though.

The thing I dont get is why it started before and not anymore!!!

My guess is gas is gummed up in your carbs, give them a good cleaning, dry and clean your plugs, and try again. If you didnt run the gas out of the carbs before letting it sit.... That is most likely your problem. Good luck and report back!

Thats what I'm doing right now..but I got to get Carb cleaner because the grim is tough to clean! I took one jet out (50) and I barely see lights through it..I'll post some pics

Gas goes to shit in as little as 3 months :shootself: Clean carbs like a virgin pussy. Blow everything out with air. 50 is a pilot jet, they are real small. Got lucky :shrugani: with the cooling.

:cheers:

Heres some weird mod that the some owners did; routing the venting outside with an adjustable valve back into the carbs...instead of beeing all inside. I dont know if its worth anything;
