  1. You should check all electrical system..it sounds complicated, but in fact, its way more easy than changing everything, like you did and less expensive!! Plus you will know exactly whats wrong. Could be a burnt connector/wire/any other stupid problem. For my case, I redid all the wiring and took every unnecessary wire out, but the ignition coil went bad. Took me 15mins to test everything, and yes the coil was the last thing I checked LOL. But I know now why my lights didnt work; I found out that the lighting coil is shot by testing everything. So a cheap voltmeter 20$, new coil 40$, knowing what is the real problem; priceless check this out; theres something about the gap for the pickup coil too..the gap has to be 0.015-0.020.. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133650
  2. I tested everything and the results are that the lighting coil is dead and there is no reading between the + - terminals of the coil. So the Q is; is the lighting coil has anything to do with ignition? my guess is no LOL and the other is, there is nothing between the + and - terminals of the coil...so thats the problem right? I get 450 resistance between the orange and black wire that connects to the coil... Just tell me if I'm on the right track with the coil beeing the issue.. thanks!!
  3. Ok bad news are in; there is no more spark what so ever so its not a carb issue. I tried switching spark plugs and by passing my kill switch(old piece of...) but nothing.. I'll make another post in the repair section..
  4. ok last bump for the night.. My main jet is 110, wich seems stupid small for the setup!! Is it me or it should be around 158!!?? pilot is 50...needle I dont know
  5. Damn!! it just WONT START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?%**%?&*?&* LOL I will put it back to ultra high idle and work my way while its running...
  6. Ok! Now the idle is fine, a bit low, but 10000x better!! The idle screw and the air/fuel are 3 turns out and the custom adjustable vent carb valve too. BUT, I drove it around my house and let it idle for 10mins and stopped it. After, I started it again with 1 easy kick and let it idle for 1min, then 1/4 throttle and the Banshee made a deep tone, like it was too rich and just drown in fuel. Now it just wont start LOL!! I guess its tune time....
  7. LOL thats why the idle was stupid high!! I'll have a look if the slides go completly down, but what is the normal air gap when throttle is at idle? is it completly shut? How much it taes to damage an engine running a bit lean? I never went on a ride, just idled 2 mins max...I'll try to sync the carbs to.. thanks for all the good advice
  8. I'm asking myself if turning air screw clockwise on my carbs are supposed to make the engine idle lower or higher??! It seems for now that clockwise is making the idle higher??? Its like the engine is at 1/4 full throttle without touching the thumb!! Thing is I'm living in city and the noise its making is crazy!! So I cant test things for a long time and I dont want to damage beeing lean. I'm looking for any tips guys!!Theres not too much on idle problems on google.. Could it be that the throttle cable is totally unadjusted? Air leaks even if everything is tight with the Boss intake? Jets really off? setup: stroker 385cc cool heads Vforce 3 starts very easy carbs are cleaned jets are pilot 50 and main 110 +4 timing T5 exhaust Boss intake 2 in 1 filter brand new plugs living in Quebec canada, not sure of elevation. Now hot/humid/warm out here but it can go cold anytime..
  9. Just want to add that the Shee started on 1st kick after the clean!! Victory!! Found out that my main jet is 110...Now its tuning time!
  10. Heres some weird mod that the some owners did; routing the venting outside with an adjustable valve back into the carbs...instead of beeing all inside. I dont know if its worth anything; http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t126/johnnystock/Banshee/IMAG0321.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t126/johnnystock/Banshee/IMAG0323.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t126/johnnystock/Banshee/IMAG0322.jpg and the electric box with timing adjust!??? http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t126/johnnystock/Banshee/IMAG0315.jpg
  11. Thats what I'm doing right now..but I got to get Carb cleaner because the grim is tough to clean! I took one jet out (50) and I barely see lights through it..I'll post some pics
  12. My banshee just won't start after the winter. I've been doing some searches; I'm reading interesting stuff, but I'm looking for more easy or precise advice about situation. Heres the details for now; -Bought the Banshee in december and never really ride it, except than starting the Banshee and having a test ride before bying it. -Was planning to ride it during winter but I lost interest in the process of trying to wire lights back on while I'm freezing in my non heated garage ( -20 degres celius winter) -I did start it during the winter 1 time, but thats it. It was easy to start; 2-3 kicks. -Then I realize that the previous owner was an idiot: he put water in the radiator but some how I got lucky and there is no damage after water frozens!! I'm glad I thought about it before the engine or anything cracked.. Plus he used scotch tape to protect electric wires!! So I redid all the wires and took out all the unnecessary wires to make it clean. Used a very simple wire diagram http://www.motorcityatv.com/yamaha-banshee-qa/ (without the lights). -So i have fire on each plugs. -I crank the engines and the engine just wont start with/without choke/ with/without filter/ new 91 gas/ new mixture 32:1 -I check plugs and they are oily and black. I read that it means its too rich or jetting problems. -I try new plugs and theyre oily/black after 10 kicks. Try to wipe/clean and still wont start. -I tried to empty the carbs by kicking with valve off/full throttle..nothing after Right now I cant check comp, so I would like to hear advice other than that. I will start to have a look and clean my carbs, maybe they have moist/residu after the winter and the jets are fuc*** Mods -TORS removed -T4 pipes -4mil strokes 385cc(not too much details on it) -Aftermarket cylinders -Cool heads -Reed valves 3 -Kehin PWK(33mm?) - electrical unit to advance timing(is that possible!?..theres a little clock with numbers on the side..) For the rest, I dont know cause the last owner didnt know much but I wanted to start with a stroker/pipes/bigger carbs modded Banshee because I know mods are really expensive( I owned a modified car so..) As you can see, I'm getting started into the 2 strokes..I have basic mechanic knowledge though. The thing I dont get is why it started before and not anymore!!!
  13. I dont know, but I think its more like a stock wire that goes somewhere, TORS would make sense cause it might be deleted and the plug/wire of the TORS were maybe used to hook up a aftermarket kill switch, that I unplugged, thats why I have this plug/wire in my hands. I was thinking this might be the cause of my head lights not working, but I'm realizing that if the tail light is working when high beam is on, wires are inverted and the head lights just not hooked...
