hey fellas

in the next few weeks going to be ordering a few parts to make the shee a bit faster

as the motor has such low hours on it (less then 10 from new) i wasnt ready to replace the crank/rods ect

bike currently has t5s and a uni filter only

so i was looking at the stock stroke cub motor

68mm pistons

with porting

cool head 21cc domes

bike runs on 98 pump fuel

and is for dune/trail/play riding

so my questions are

does this set up work well?

will i need to or get any gain out of larger carbs?

will these pipes do the trick (dont really want oof pipes)?

i have done a bit of looking around but still not really 100%

i would rather do everything at the same time then fuck around swapping shit later ect

what else would i need

vf3 reeds?

timing plate?

billet intake?

thanks for any help or experences you have

In my opinion I wouldnt waste the money doing a stoke stroke cub, especially since your current topend has low hours on it. I would spend the money on getting the current topend ported, some 33-35mm PWK Carbs, and a set of pipes (if you already have them) which will allow you to see power gains your looking for. I would look to do a 4mill Cub if you going to spend the money going cub, stoke stroke cub aint goin get you much faster. When I had my 4mill Stock cylinder F.A.S.T. Dune port I smoked stoke stroke cubs allday long.

will the stock stroke cub be alot better then just a ported stock set up?

i didnt want to have to pull my motor down n send it away for porting and have it apart for weeks ect

i was looking at this because i need more power, i can have it all fitted/running in a day and it didnt seem crazy expensive

and still keep my stock cyl/pistons ect

if you are looking for a good dune engine.

send out your stockers to get a dune port.

have your crank welded and trued, it will start to come apart if not.

stock carbs can work, but some pwk28 will be a nice upgrade.

get some cut domes for your cool head.

get some different pipes.

adjustable timing plate so you can play with timing.

dont need billet intake

vf reeds are nice but really a must.

if im going to the trouble of getting the crank welded i may as well go all the way

this is what i wanted to avoid at this stage

if other carbs will make more power/make it ride better something i would just do while its apart to save changing them later

i dont just ride dunes

is there something wrong with the stock stroke cub idea or just not worth the extra over some porting?

think i will put these pipes on the mrs bike n find something more suitable for me

if you do a cub or what, you should have your crank welded. i had just a little trail port and my crank started to come apart, but i caught it in time.

a stock stroke cub from what i heard, it a drag engine, not the best for trail riding.

yeah ive herd that about the crank, hmm

makes me think twice about what i want to do

I raced some kids bike out in crystal lake that had stock stroke cub, 35mm carbs, and dmc pipes and beat him by 3 bike lengths. I also raced one of Joe's (wacko2000) friends stock stroke cub with Joe riding and beat that bike with ease, just ask Joe for co-sign.

I against the masses I guess. Theres some stock stroke cubs that flat out get it done. Theres others that are dogs. I had a 392 cub that made 79 hp with T5s and 35mm carbs , made 83hp with CPIs. That was a good little duner. They are a pretty good motor IMO.
