bryan b Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Checked my compresion today. 60psi on each cylinder. Like 10hrs on a build. 66mm bore, weisco pro lites, factory head. Runs great just a bitch to start when cold. Im gonna guess this is low compared to what i read. But seen a add on ebay for a set of used jugs that had 70psi and the add claimed that was still good running condition???? Quote
Nightmare Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 No, that is not right. you need to check it again. Quote
ClayAiken Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 60 and it shouldnt even run. Check again and if its the same get a new tester. Quote
bryan b Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 Ok, i rechecked it but with the trottle open this time. Forgot about that and on the same gage got 72psi each cylinder. I also did a leak down test and it was really good lost nothing in 6min. The bike wont hardly idle and keeps acting like it has an air leak. We just rebuilt the carbs and couldnt get them to sync with the tool and it kept tryn to rev a little and wouldnt idle still so thats the reason for the compresion tests and stuff. Quote
Zwiser Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Throw your harbor freight tester out and get a half decent one... Quote

Its a tester from oriellys so not sure how good/bad they are and i have had it for 8 years or so. Will post on results tomorrow. Quote
sheerider11 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I had a harbor freight tester. I tested my truck bike dirt bike and banshee. According to that, everything had 60 psi. Quote
bryan b Posted April 1, 2012 Author Report Posted April 1, 2012 Well i got a new tester ans sure enough 125psi and 120 or just a shade above 120. My question is now. Why wont it idle? It trys to idle high then low, carbs wont sync very close. Carbs have been rebuilt and pressure test shows no loss. Quote

Cross-over tube installed? Double-check your jetting and clean the carbs again. Try new plugs? - Jared Quote
bryan b Posted April 1, 2012 Author Report Posted April 1, 2012 Ok, have been fidling with this for last 2 hrs. Had to re adjust the floats on one side. The right side. i was useing the carb tool i got from FAST and At what i would call a good idle cause i dont have a tack it was pulling 5.5 on right and 6 on left. We got the temp gun out and the left side pipe was doing 114 degrees and 92 degrees on the right. Left side smokes a little bit and right does not. When you rev it up it never goes back to the same rpm. It will run at like 2000rpm then after 20 sec go to idle or it can run at 3000 for 10 sec then fall down. Its Got new plugs in there, gaped the same, they are withing 5psi of each other on comp test, reeds are good, exhaust is sealed good, carb air screws are 2 turns out, and the carbs are synced far as cables go. I need some help here. Im suppose to be leaving for Waynoka thursday morning. HELP! Quote
ticktock Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Sounds like jetting + air screw. You have something different between the two carbs, pilots, needles, needle clip position. Start over! Adam Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Did you take pilot jets out when you cleaned carbs? TORS or no? Carb top gaskets good? If no tors are idle screw holes sloppy? If stock carbs, is the little sight window tite? I had one fall out somewhere, don't know if while running or while it was waiting to be rebuilt. Check that you get good blue spark each and every time it sparks both sides, Ohm plug caps seperatly. Trim 1/4" off plug wire before installing cap. Quote

Ordered tors delete kit tonight. I think they are screwing me up. The cap gaskets were good. And the windows seem to be tight. We did get it to idle for about a min. And everytni g was doing great BUT then soon as i reved it up it did the same dang crap. Tried to idle at like 1/4 throttle and the carbs wernt in sync no more. Was pulling 6 out of right side and 5 outta left side. Said to heck with it till the delete kit comes in tuesday. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Almost bet that bullshit inside the brick is causing some of the issues Quote
