Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Hey Guys, Does anyone know if anybody makes or sells a set of Locking Lug Nuts for our Banshees ? Similiar to a Automobile where you have one locking lug per wheel/Rim where you need the key to get the lugnut off. Quote
Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Posted March 4, 2012 My neighbor and I go to Gilbert West Virginia for one week every year to ride at Rock House which is part of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. We have an absolute blast riding all day and getting drunk at night. We do what we want when we want and leave the wives and kids at home. In the town of Gilbert it is totally legal to ride on the roads with your ATVs. Police just request that you follow the rules as if you where driving a automobile. I have my Banshee and Bill (Neighbor) owns a Yamaha Raptor700. Both of our bikes on occasion where being scoped out last year to the point where the police knocked on our door one night to let us know this. Both of our bikes have lots of Bling Bling. Well this year my Banshee is going to even look better. I just got my shipment last Friday of my New Hiper Tech3 Dual Bead lock wheels along with New Maxxis Razr2 tires. Heck all it takes is 16 lug nuts and Wheels are gone. The upside is the motel we stayed in last year We where able to park and lock our bikes within 15 feet of our door (ground level). I'm worried about this. I'm thinking locking locknut on each wheel. of course we will in addition lock the bikes with our very thick cable and very Beefy locks. Any ideas in addition to what I have said I highly welcome. Thanks Guy's!!!!!!!!!! Quote

dirtydownunder Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 woulndt it be easier to just steal the whole bike ? you need to get your bike in a lock up garage. Quote
Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Posted March 4, 2012 whats gunna stop them from taking the hub? LMAO, I just looked at Hub I'll just keep an eye on the Bikes the best I can. Quote

Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Posted March 4, 2012 if you want to keep someone from stealing it quickly, a chain around the frame to something like a tree with a lock on it plus a lock around the sprocket and chain. it will not stop everyone but it will stop most. This is close to what we did last year but instead of the tree we chained our bikes together. Hell that Raptor700 is a Heavy you know what. Quote
Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Posted March 4, 2012 buy geo metro lugs OK, Wash this a serious option or a joke, lol. I don't really know so I'm just laughing. Quote
DirtDiggler69 Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Yep , when we go riding at the dunes we chain the 4 quads together with a couple chains and locks that would require a .357 to open . And I generally blue loc tite my wheel nuts on and the hub nut as well . A couple years ago at Florence there was some guys camping next to us and they were continually eyeballing our groups bikes. The last night there we usually go to the casino for buffet and sure enough we got back and my buddies 400ex seat was gone . At that time I still had my blaster and it also had some spendy parts , but nothing they could simply just lift off . They were packing up to leave and I just knew they were dragging ass until we pulled out for dinner. Quote

Poolman Posted March 4, 2012 Author Report Posted March 4, 2012 I cannot believe there is someone not making a keyed lug nut for ATV'S. Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 OK, first of all...if you have a bike that looks nice, your going to have to face the fact that your going to need an enclosed trailer to have any illusion of safe keeping. Second...A cable and lock or chain and lock will only stop the honest thieves. (Amateurs and rookies.) If you have never used a bolt cutter on a padlock, then you don't know how easy and quiet it is. I've cable locked every part I could on my bikes together on an open trailer in a parking lot at a hotel that had cameras aimed at the lot to protect stuff. The camera did a great job of recording the random guy who showed up late at night to quickly cut the throttle cables off my carbs with some basic side cutters and run off with them. If you can't afford a nice trailer because you spent all you have on the ATV.....Rent an enclosed for the weekend......or be ready to "Share the wealth". Quote
