I havent been able to ride my shee for the last week though i have been turning it on once a week. I will be on holidays for 4-6 weeks so it wont be turned on at all.

 

Will the fuel stay fresh? I use 98 octane with motul 800.

Is there any precautions i should be taking?

Start it up and drain the bowl by letting idle or drain the bowl by letting the gas out of them. The gas in the tank is fine. Just shake the machine before you turn the gas on when you get back. Gas will last months before going bad. Non-ethonol will last longer.

The gas will be fine. As an extra pre-caution I'd plug the vent hose on top of the gas tank.

I like to start the bike, turn off the gas and let it idle untill it runs out of gas. That way the carbs don't gum up.

I also think that the gas will be ok, like said above. BUT, I´m not sure about your Motul 800 oil.

800 is a race oil, and I was told that the premix should be used in about next 3 to 4 days.

After that the oil starts to go bad and will not lube the engine good.

 

I´m not a pro and I can´t be sure about this, but that is what they told me.

That´s why I use 710 in summer time and SnowPower during the winter.

 

Just my opinion, and sorry my bad english!

Hell I've gone 6 months without starting my stocker. It took a little carb cleaner sprayed in the filter to get it going. I let it sit for a year once, and I had to clean the carbs to get it to run.

Do NOT shut the fuel off and let it run itself out. You WILL cause premature wear on your motor as you are literally starving it on oil. It also gets worse as a 2stroke will naturally rev faster when starved....causing it to spin faster while starving on oil...

X2 for sure!!! Until yesterday I hadn't ran a banshee since the October HQ ride and matter of fact, I didn't even turn the gas off. It started on the first kick and ran great.

Please. It idles, slows down and dies. I've only been doing it for life.

The only drawback is never gumming up your carbs- oh thats a plus..

you know there are these things that are on the carb bowls called drains......they're only put on there to you know....drain the bowls. so to help save a motor why not just shut the fuel off and use a screwdriver to open the drain screw....seems like the engineers may have done that for a reason huh?

I get what your saying.

My shee is gonna wear out from me riding the piss out of it regardless. I could try to drain the gas and all without spilling any on my motor everytime or,

just run it out gas and have to rebuild it 5 minutes sooner then normal.

So the 800 will be good. Thanks for the info.

 

A local shop owner who sells Motul told me to use 710 because I am not using my premix during the "week end". I was going to buy the best like 800, but he told me that if my motor is not super hot all the time and the motor is not a "Race tight" high reving one, then I should be fine with 710 or even lower. (sorry OT)

Isnt the difference between 710 and 800 that on is synthetic and one is fully synthetic?

So does that drain the tank or whats in the carbs/engine?
