fuzzypickles Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Hey guys. Today I was riding in the sandhills near a lake after some serious rain fall on my lowered banshee with K/N air filters with no outerware (smart right?) and the filters collapsed and sucked in a bunch of water. luckily there wasn't much sand in the intake and the cylinder/pistons was fine. I cleaned up the carbs and reeds and its back together but I dont know what to do with the air filters. Is it safe to soak these puppies in some boiling water? I figure it should bring the sand out and hopefully expand them to there previous shape.... picture attached Quote

Burke Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Why risk it for $50 worth of filters? Quote
Dicklez Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 They look beat. Buy new ones. Ive cleaned filters with gas kero soapy water simple green. Try anything that will get the shit out. Than clean with water last i guess. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Buy new ones. Sell those on e-Gay for $75 shipped. Quote
fuzzypickles Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 Wish I had money, then I would buy some new ones. but $50 a piece plus $20 a piece for outerwear plus shipping/handling is almost $200 Quote

I'd check the for-sale section here and see what you can find. I know you can get the outerwears way cheaper than that brand new. I think the most I've ever paid is $30 for a pair for brand new ones. Burke Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 And if you aren't riding sand dunes, then you should be running a good 2 stage foam filter like a UNI Quote

sheerider11 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 If your really strapped for cash get the ones that Matt sent you the link for. That's an awesome deal. But if you do stumble across a pile of money, go with the uni fillers. I have a 2 stage and a outer wear, the water just beads up and rolls off. Granted it's not soaked. But if I had stock carbs, those k&n filters would be mine. Quote
