I'm just trying to get an idea as as to what to look for, finished my rebuild today, during rebuild the motor was bored to .03 honed ported billet basket with hd springs billet water impeller +4 timing lightened flywheel uped the main jets to 330 new pushrod and ball fired up on like 4th kick ran great did 2 heat cycles then rode it in 1st - 3rd half to quarter throttle did the break in everything was fine, it started acting like it was choking I stopped and it died it would kick and turn over but not start... What should I look for when I get a chance to trouble shoot BTW carb was cleaned when rejetted and carnal were synced

did ya have spark? outta gas or gas line clogged? did ya cheak the obvious choices first?

Yea ill do all the obvious stuff first carb fuel plugs and spark I'm just wanting to know what all other than obvious to look for

Fuel, make sure fuel is flowing to the carbs, take the nut off the bottom of the bowl, Drain some fuel in a drip cup and make sure it flows in, both carbs.

Check the plugs, Check the spark. (check the spark with plugs you know fire, not necessary the ones in the machine)

If no spark, check connections, check stator, flywheel, make sure key is in Crank, could be sheared and your are 180 degrees out.

Check coolant - O-ring blown? Check for leaks at the head Gasket/Base Gasket.

Check compression.

Really sounds like an an electrical problem or fuel problem.

There is like 9 different possible electrical problems. Check to see if on the right side of the air box, your wires hit your pipes and melted them causing a short? Just thinking outside the box here.

Yea thats what Im thinking a fuel or air issue, its just weird it was running so great and then after a 1/4 to 1/2 mile straight at 3/4 to full throttle bam the bitch cuts out seems like its just my luck lol i have more wrenching hours than ride time probably 10times more wrenching time.... banghead

This exact thing happened to me and i ended up shearing the key... apparently common i also did some.damage to my stator with the rotor spinnin and floppin untimed so be on the look out...

My suggestion could be that it is the flywheel nut wasn't installed quite tight enough and it vibrated loose enough to allow the flywheel to back off the press fit and it sheared the key causing the timing to be off....

I didn't think of that I know I torqued it to 68ftlbs with blue lock tight... And yes it was ported by hjr that's the only air flow changes

well did you change the jetting in teh carbs to handle that extra air flow? or is it still the same as BEFORE you sent kevin your jugs?

I have had the bike back up for a while so I figured id update what was wrong lol, During re-assembly the wiring harness was ziptied too close to the exhaust and melted the wires to gether grounding EVERYTHING.... thanks for everyones help though
