NV-Banshee Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I picked up a Moose Racing split chain slider for a stock swing arm. The problem I have is it will not close up after it gets wrapped around the swing arm. Like the hole is to small. Anybody else run into this problem? Quote
robert0762 Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 It doesn't there will be maybe an eighth inch gap in there Quote
NV-Banshee Posted November 28, 2011 Author Report Posted November 28, 2011 I wish there was an eighth inch gap. I have like a half an inch. It is so far off the screw will not go into the hole and it will not squeeze together by hand. Quote
Starwriter Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 After you take off the white plastic roller, there's a stainless sleeve pressed on the swingarm. Maybe that needs to come off. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 After you take off the white plastic roller, there's a stainless sleeve pressed on the swingarm. Maybe that needs to come off. Every aftermarket slider I have seen needs to have the metal ring for the stock slider/roller removed from the swingarm. Quote
NV-Banshee Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 Isn't the purpose of a split slider to ease in the installation so the swing arm does not have to be dropped? Yes the old one was removed. This pic is from the back end of it, you can see the gap that is there. Quote
Starwriter Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 Take your $20 Harbor Freight digital calipers http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-digital-caliper-47257.html and measure the swingarm and the inside of the chain slider. Should make the problem obvious. Or call Moose, and ask them WTF. Quote
Zwiser Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 when i had a stock swing arm i had a tm designs slip over one like your talking about and i did not have to remove anything... are you sure this one says that its made for stock swingers? Quote
NV-Banshee Posted December 1, 2011 Author Report Posted December 1, 2011 the part number 1231-0073 is the moose p/n for a stock swing arm. I have sent Moose a e-mail and they asked me what p/n I had and now I am waiting for a reply. Quote
NV-Banshee Posted December 5, 2011 Author Report Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) I had to remove the inside bushing that the stock chain slider rides on. So I had to drop the swing arm. After that was removed the Mooose one went on like a champ. Here is the little bastard Edited December 5, 2011 by NV-Banshee Quote
kawa110 Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Did some diggingDoesn’t seem like the dust cover fits....Chain slider, dust cover, washer, rubber seal. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 That doesn’t make sense considering the slider was designed to install with the swingarm still on the bike. I don’t run caps on any of my bikes. You’ll be fine. Quote
