Bkm2006 Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 i havent been on here in awhile and jeff has been building my motor for my shee, im overseas for work right now but i plan on being home dec to finish my build but anyway. I need some advice on my build. I was going with a stock stroke , stock cycl shee with a mild f.a.s.t port, case port, +4 timing , cool head with 19cc domes, shift shaft mod ect........... Jeff emailed me saying my stock crank would not true up, and that he was more than happy to send it off to someone else to see if it could be trued, but said by the time i do that i might as well go new... so with that said my cylinders and cases are already ported , since im having to go with a new crank was wondering if its too late to go 4mill? kinda sucks because i should have went this route first but i didnt know my crank was going to turn out to be junk... NYUK Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 if he ported the cal, its too late probably, you would have to talk to jeff.i would go new. Quote
06specialedition Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 Sell your stock stroke cylinders, and find some non ported ones that can be ported for a 4mil. Or see if Jeff can credit you for your cylinders. Quote
Bkm2006 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 welp ill update you guys on what ends up happening im deff going with new either way.. dont really want to buy new cylinders unless i need to.. how much more of a power gain will i get stock stroke vs 4mill? also if i end up getting new cylinders might as well go cub right? ive got the bike all together brand new laker plastics everything is done its like a brand new bike i have 7k in it as it sits.. i only have 2g left in my mad money fund... but i have already paid for the build on the motor minus the new crank and whatever else i have him do.. Bkm2006 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 the more i think about it i may just go stock stroke and put the money toward some better carbs as the ones i have are stock. what do you think? 4mill or stock stroke and new carbs like some 28pwk? Quote
Bkm2006 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 Ok , Just got off the phone with jeff. Looks like the cylinders are already ported lol just my luck .. But hey o well, jeff told me he was even asking around about trading my cylinders for a stock set. Just hate that i had to buy a new crank and go with a stock stroke , guess thats the way it goes sometimes. But jeff is a hell of a guy and answered all of my ?s . ill keep everyone updated on my build and when i get home in dec ill post pics of the bike complete .. i went with all black powdercoated frame and a arms, black spider seat from vegas jeff, and silver laker plastics.. should look sick cant wait to get it all put together... thanks for everyones help on this site! Jereme6655 Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 id say get some bigger carbs. While you would see more power out of a 4mil....you would then be limited by the stock carbs.....they would be holding you back then. How about using the left over mad money on a quality suspension like +2+1 arms and also some works or elka shocks.... suspension can make you just as fast if not faster than stock suspenion banshees. rubberneck Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I did the exact same thing. Sent a set of cylinders to jeff, and then tore the motor down once they came back only to find a junk crank. I was told by PO that the bike had a new welded crank put in right before i purchased it well guess what, it was junk. I was bummed at first as if i would have had to buy a crank i would have gone 4mil for obvious reasons, but hind site is 20/20 right. Well i ended up buying a stock stroke crank and putting bike back together, and it runs great. You wont be dissapointed. Just go with what you have. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I'd go 4mm before I'd worry about a bigger carb. The gains you'll see from the stock stroke with bigger carbs is minimal. 4mm all the way. Quote
rjdgriff Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I have some unported stock cylinders that have only had 1 bore on them if you need them. Just send me a message and we can try to make a deal. Quote
lms1977 Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I would go bigger!! 4mil for sure get the carbs later try to work something out with jeff Quote
rubberneck Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I guess it depends on how big of a hurry you are in. If jeff has the cylinders all done and ready to go, id just get a new crank and run it. His stock stroke motors run nice. If you dont mind waiting to find another set of cylinders and then have jeff port them then do that, but im telling you, you wont be dissapointed with the lil motor either Quote
Bkm2006 Posted November 4, 2011 Author Report Posted November 4, 2011 jeff is already throwing the motor together and im way further into this thing money wise then i thought id be.. im just going to run it for 1 season in my bike then im going to start building one fore the wife anyway.. when the time comes ill just give her the stoke stroke and im sure by then ill want a 4 mill or bigger.. camatv Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 wont true up? send it to crankworks.. BUT a decent hotrods SS was like what 400 or so maybe less? Quote
