Here's my Mods..Fresh top end build 66mm Wiseco pistons,T5's,CoolHead 22cc domes, stock timing, stock Crank,BR8 plugs, stock Carbs, stock reeds,91 octane ..32:1 castor 927 mix. Broke in the build B4 heading to GLAMIS it ran fine no issues.. then in GLAMIS while dunning it goes WOT! Shuts off ..came home to a hole on my left piston & a hole starting to form on my right piston..what gives!! Quote
Glamis321 Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 lean or ran out of fuel? Whats your jetting Quote
951banshee350 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 Pilot 30 Main 300.. and im running K&N pods. Quote
951banshee350 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 Wouldn't my pistons have seized B4 they blow a hole of I was running Lean!? Quote
camatv Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 if you ran out of gas that would have sucked to be the problem.. Quote
951banshee350 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 Fuel was fine.. I still have a chance to check my compression on one side. I wonder if it was too high. I will be checking that tomorow. Quote
951banshee350 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 Just in case : another left out Mod. Runing a Dual Pingel valve..fuel is flowing fine. Quote
shanYE west Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Before you tear it down.. Do a leak test.. check for air leaks. Quote
RadarRacing Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Holes in pistons I have seen are usually too much timing. If your ground strap has the blue haze/ burn past half way on the bend of the elbow or closer to the base than the tip then turn the timing back. It could very well be lean as well. I'm surprised you didn't notice any detonation problems or have your plugs fall out before the holes. Cast pistons? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 if you said it had plently of fuel in it and suddenly it just started to rev up on its own then it was an air leak. leaned the shit out of your bike and melted a hole in your pistons. This is a common problem with air leaks....this is why we have info on how to build leak down testers so ensure that our motors dont eat pistons. BEFORE you tear it down.......although i bet you did to find the holes.......you should always do a leak down test and a compression test. This can let you know little facts that can help you diagnose and find reasonings as to why things happened. Quote
4MiLLDraGSheE Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Im just gunna say if you got holes in the pistons figure out the problem fix it and replace the pistons.... sigh Quote
Wheelman Chassis Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Im just gunna say if you got holes in the pistons figure out the problem fix it and replace the pistons.... sigh thanks for the worthless comment. Quote
951banshee350 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 I second that! ! WheelManslim.. thanks to all for your thoughts and comments ..I am gonna look into leak testing after new pistons and compression check the good cylinder. Quote
4MiLLDraGSheE Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Yeah no problem chris. Im just saying instead of wasting ur time asking people and waiting for a reply should it not be common sense or common knowledge to first do a leakdown and Or check your compression? Obviously theres deto from something. After that being said why waste the time? I understand some people are new but i suck at this banshee stuff and i know that. Plus i was just trying to bring a little dry humor to the thread sorry for wasting a little bit more time. Not trying to start a huge argument just saying if i look at my pistons and see holes through them my first move isnt gunna be to get on here and wait for responses. I hope u get the problem figured out and im sorry if i hurt anybodys feeling it is not my intention. (i found a .gif website so ive been looking for any reason to throw them in somewere personally i think its funny but could just be childish humor) Quote
